In 2011, Kenny took the oath to serve his country in the U.S. Marines. He served this country Honorably for four years on active duty, with a combat deployment to Helmand Province Afghanistan in 2013.
"A huge part of what got me into this industry stemmed from my time overseas" said Kenny in an interview with AMI Music Group in 2021. "After you get off a 24 hour patrol in the sands of Afghanistan, you really start to miss normal life back home" At that point, Kenny turned to writing songs and singing covers to help boost morale for his fellow comrades. "When the fighting was done for the day, the guys could always count on a desert concert from me and my friend Justin Feenstra." All of the songs that Kenny has written are about the real life events and tragedies. "Life isn't all sunshine and rainbows, there's an ample amount of stuff that isn't talked about, or even written about, such as the 22 veterans a day that commit suicide struggling with their PTSD." Kenny Sweet & the Buck Wild Band is a country, rock and southern rock band from Southwest MO. It’s comprised of Sam Schaper, Nolan Schaper, Tim Townley, and Jason Turner. A versatile band that often includes fiddle and steel guitar to capture the essence of classic country hits. They play various genres from classic country, pop, rock to current hits. There’s bound to be something for everyone when you have this lineup come to a town near you!
