Bio
How many of us remember the moment we were inspired to follow our life’s passion, or for that
matter, the moment we recognized our life’s passion?
At the age of 13, Kenny Arnold was one of the fortunate ones to have found his passion. It
happened on a dark and mournful day as he traveled with his family to his grandmother’s
funeral. With no intention, the radio was playing All This Time by Sting. Kenny noticed the
powerful effect the music had on his family. During that song, he knew he wanted to create
those powerful moments for others…the kind that stay with us forever, with the memory of
people we were with, where we were and how we felt during those significant moments of our
lives.
In his junior year of high school he was invited to participate in Annapolis High School’s
International Baccalaureate Music program and upon graduation was presented with the Best
Musician award.
During his senior year of high school, he had the opportunity to work with critically acclaimed
musician Jeremey Ragsdale, an instructor at the Berklee School of Music and recent winner of
the X Factor in Romania. In addition, he had the exciting opportunity to work with Rob Levit, an
award winning jazz musician.
After graduation, Kenny attended Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) outside of
Nashville. While there, Kenny’s musical ambitions continued to grow and be influenced by the
music scene in Tennessee. While at MTSU, he played in clubs and house shows in and around
Nashville as well as the MTSU Millenium Stage.
Kenny is pursuing his future education at William Patterson University outside of New York
City. He was captivated by New York's music scene and believes that this is the best place for
him to pursue a career in music.
Kenny is now a young adult, many journeys past his 13-year old self. He has become a soulful
passionate performer. His guitar style is a combination of Singer Songwriter and Alternative
Rock with inspiration from The Strokes, Elliot Smith and Modest Mouse. He writes all of his own
material and creates original music on a daily basis.
Kenny’s music comes to him in the same way a strong gust pushes us to the ground on a windy
March day. It arrives as an invisible force, with all of its components including the sounds,
rhythm and lyrics. When this happens, he quickly captures it and turns into a melody, harmony
and an expression of emotion.
His music, as with most artists, is inspired by his experiences with love and life. Kenny has
been fortunate in his young life to be given the opportunity to travel throughout the U.S. with his
loyal and mostly dependable companion Jolene, his 2002 Jeep Cherokee (from Ray
Lamontagne’s song). During a recent summer, they traveled from Maryland to California and
back, playing in festivals and bars in Los Angeles, New Orleans, Memphis, Minnesota and New
York.
When Kenny and Jolene returned home after three months of travel, Jolene’s engine died and
Kenny cried. He was eventually able to save her with a new engine allowing them to continue
travelling together, performing his music in various venues across Maryland, playing at
numerous gigs and making sure that his name and music are being heard by as many people
as possible.
As Kenny continues to compose his music each day, he works on projects such as scoring a
short film being shot in New Orleans and creating a theme song for a web series. When that
invisible force hits him with a new song, he puts all of that aside and captures the beautiful idea
that he turns into music
