The indie rock band’s name reflects Kelley’s desire for a musical project that he had more control over. After a decades-long experience in the Austin music scene, the rise and fall of groups had started to take its toll.
Kelley’s Heroes has led the guitarist and vocalist to create some of that music with the band’s first album, “Who’s Gonna Save the World?” A CD release party at Lovin’ Cup is slated for Jan. 13.

Kelley’s Heroes is an Original Indie Rock band fusing the great singer-songwriter traditions with classic Indie Rock power and energy. You might hear echoes of our own heroes in our songs: from Elvis Costello to The Beatles to Richard Thompson to Steve Earle.
Fronted by Austin music veteran John Kelley and Rochester’s own Jon Gary, Dan Hoh and James Conner.
In early 2024, Kelley’s Heroes released their debut full-length album, “Who’s Gonna Save the World?”, to receptive and enthusiastic crowds.
