Local rapper Killa Kel is back with his third mixtape release, "College Preparation Vol. 2: Sophomore Year."
The 22-track disc drops today and features six artists who work with Killa Kel's Fly Guyz Entertainment company. - Town Talk
Sincerely Yours, Truly is a composition I can listen to from beginning to end. Kel, an Alexandria, Louisiana native, is quickly growing into his identity as a very strong lyricist. His versatility has expanded even more so in this release. There are more “colors” of him available to the fans and more perspective injected on Sincerely Yours, Truly. The mixtape itself could not be more appropriately titled. Kel dedicates every piece of work to his fans, and shows the utmost gratitude for the support he gets as a positive artist and an advocate of substance. Each track on this mixtape bears a piece of the listener somewhere laced in the verse, which adds to the appeal of the Louisiana rapper.
“Opinions” provides insight to Kel’s private thoughts on the life many rappers ramble about while pretending to be on a grind. This is one motivated artist I can personally say works for each bit of success he sees. No hype here. Kel is on the path to becoming one of hip hop’s resurrectors. - Insights and opinions That Arise

A sneek-peek at Alexandria, Louisiana's all-volunteer community event, Taking it 2 The Street, a guided walking tour loaded with local celebrities and entertainment. It's a great example of citzens coming together, rolling up their sleeves and helping bring a depressed downtown back to life. - Channel 5

Rapper Keldrick “Kel” Bonton told fourth-graders about the importance of college in his career.
Although many in the hip-hop field might say college isn’t necessary, he said, attending the University of Louisiana at Monroe was an important step for him.
“Education helped me make decisions,” Bonton said, adding that college allowed him to network with other artists.
Bonton encouraged students to work hard to follow their dreams.
Chris Clayton, a forester and wildlife biologist with RoyOMartin, echoed that message, urging students to apply themselves in school to reach their full potential. - Alexandria Town Talk

An empty stage anxiuosly awaits for the next performer to appear.
But no one is around.
The announcer again welcomes the next performer to the stage, but no one is there.
A rap mix starts up—suddenly—he appears out of nowhere.
He comes out in a navy snapback, a light blue shirt, a gold watch and of course gold all in his chain.
He’s fearless.
The young man smiles and begins to rap for the audience.
This scene took place at the annual Spring Fever Concert. The concert sums up the majority of the week and is usually the big finale for students.
The song being performed is called “Project X2,” an original track created by Keldric Bonton.
The song was inspired by an actual house party that Kel attended last year thrown by a few ULM students.
“It’s a blessing to be in the building.” said Bonton. “I encourage everyone to follow their hearts and dreams no matter what anyone says. Have faith that God will lead you where he wants you to go.”
Bonton is a senior mass comm major from Alexandria. He has been working with music for six years now and is also working on his seventh mixtape.
Some of his inspirations include Earth, Wind, & Fire, Luther Vandross, Drake and Whitney Houston.
The headliners for the concert were TPain and Chingy, opened up by Trey Parker, Kel and B. Smyth.
Trey Parker (Silas Trey P. Stapleton) is also a student from ULM who graduated with a degree in music and is from Jackson, Miss.
B. Smyth, 19, is an aspiring performer from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., who has only been in the music business for about a year now.
His fame developed from YouTube this the past year. Smyth said that his inspiration is Micheal Jackson because his talent.
Everyone has tried to moonwalk at least once and all of Jackson’s work is phenomenal, according to Smyth.
“The concert was amazing.” said Mone’t Zeno, a sophomore education major. “My favorite part, of course, was B. Smyth since he’s extremely good looking and has the voice of an angel. I feel like he’s going to be really big really soon.”
Although Waka Flocka Flame, the original headliner for the show, was not able to make it, Chingy was quick to fill his place. Chingy has been in the music industry since 2002 as a popular hip-hop artist from St. Louis, Mo.
Some of his debut tracks include “Right Thurr,” 2003, “Pullin’ Me Back” and “Dem Jeans,” 2006.
This was Chingy’s first time performing in Monroe.
“I would give the same energy I would to an audience of one or two people that I would to an audience of thousands.” said Chingy. “It’s important to make the audience feel like they are a part of a show and that they are included.” - ULM Hawk Eye

On April 27, ULM’s own hip-hop artist, Keldric Bonton, also known as Kel, released his fifth mixtape entitled “Sincerely Yours Truly.”
As a native of Alexandria, Kel has been pursuing music for six years, gaining much growth and success along the way.
His biggest accomplishment is simply being where he is today as an artist.
Kel said, “I can’t say one thing is bigger than the other because even the small things help bring me where I am now.”
Rejecting to categorize himself under one specific genre, Kel only focuses on trying to make meaningful music, which he says is represented by the songs on his current mixtape.
With both a classic and timeless feel, Kel managed to combine common life experiences into 14 tracks and nearly 40 minutes of greatness.
The title of the album somewhat speaks for itself, delivering an overall sense of love. However, this isn’t just your typical love story.
Influenced by several artists, including Frankie Beverly, Aaliyah, Drake and Kanye West, “Sincerely Yours Truly” has something for everyone.
The song “Could It Be” is filled with love and compassion and appropriately followed by the inspirational song “2nd Wind.”
The dedicated artist even managed to include a bonus track for fans, painting a vivid picture of party life through descriptive lyrics and an up-beat tempo.
Kel ends the mixtape with a powerful outro consisting of instrumentation only.
The outro has a very soothing touch and invites the audience in for yet another listen.
This starving artist continues to deliver great music to his fans and says, “I just want to thank everyone for their support thus far, and this is only the beginning.”
Ambitious and talented, Kel has released yet another promising mixtape, sending reassurance of much success to come.

ULM’s own Keldric “Kel” Bonton is releasing his new CD called“CP3” on Sept. 9.
Bonton, a senior mass communication major, got his inspiration for his new CD from different situations he’s gone through as not only a student, but as a man.
Bonton’s love of music began when his father introduced him to music at a young age. Because of this, he grew a strong appreciation for the art.
As a mass communication major, he plans to use his degree to advance his music. He wants to take on every piece of work that goes into this side of entertainment. Bonton said, “I want to be an all around artist, I want to do it all.”
Bonton’s talent doesn’t stop at rapping. He also has an ear for composing, something he hopes to use in conjunction with his own company called Flyy Guy Entertainment. He wants his company to become its own brand, and he’s looking for any and all kinds of genres of music.
“There’s no discrimination of any genre. My focus is really to make good music and make music that makes a difference in people’s lives,” he said.
Some things that mean a great deal to Bonton, are his supporters and God. He said his religion has a profound effect on him, which is why there is no profanity in his music. Bonton said, “It’s really important that I put God over everything.”
He goes on to say, “I have some of the best supporters, and it drives me to work harder. It makes me feel like I’m doing something right. I appreciate all the support from my fans. I love you all.”
Bonton’s CD, which features fellow ULM student Trey Parker, will be available for free download on his websites. - ULM Hawkeye
Keldric “Kel” Bonton’s hip-hop skills were discovered when he was freestyling with friends in high school.
Bonton, then took those talents and became serious about hip-hop, and develop himself into the artist he is today.
In high school, Bonton not only got really serious with hip-hop but also with life when his daughter was born.
“With the birth of my daughter, I had to take a look back and find out what’s important in life. That’s why I am so serious, and I focus on what I do,” Bonton said.
As far as the seriousness of hip-hop, he had reason to make his music from life experiences.
With Bonton’s bass voice, his hometown of Alexandria, Louisiana was able to listen to his real music by radio.
Brandon Perry, life long friend of Keldric Bonton, said that Bonton has a strong drive for his music.
“I’ve seen it from the beginning, and he loves music,” said Perry.
Bonton said he developed a strong passion from music because of his dad introducing him to Earth, Wind and Fire, and Mariah Carey, who were people who made great music.
“A lot of artists get mixed up with labels; for me it’s more about the message than the money,” he added.
Bonton really enjoys the art of performing in front of an audience.
“With performing, I have complete control on what I do; with everyone paying attention to you, you have to be “cool” and have to believe in what you are saying.”
For Bonton’s future, he will go as far as his music takes him. He really appreciates all the fans and supporters. “ Without the supporters, I am nothing,” said Bonton. - ULM Hawkeye

Lousiana's up and coming artist, KEL with his dope single with incredible vocals on the chorus from Bryson Tiller this track titled "Don't Remix". Born in the summer of 1990, Keldric Bonton (Kel) was influenced early on by his familys choice in music with performers such as: Earth, Wind and Fire, LTD, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly and many others. KEL is trying to make it known that he is one of the best up and comers from his area and shows tremendous dedication and effort to his craft. His latest project - All I Ever Wanted - has been growing momentum with constant airplay on local and neighboring radio stations. To get more familiar with KEL you can check out more of his music below and underneath that are his social media links where you can follow him for up to date music news and info, don't sleep on KEL and his new single "Don't Remix" featuring Bryson Tiller. - Thisis50.com
“All I Ever Wanted” is a fifteen track journey that takes you inside the world of a 23 year old kid from a small city in Louisiana. The project highlights the struggles associated with temptation, career choices, personal life and maintaining his faith in this day and age. After graduating college, the world starts to look differently to KEL. He is reflecting on some of his past situations and starts to realize his true purpose as the project continues. Some of KEL’s influences on this project include Earth, Wind & Fire, Kanye West, Tupac, Andre 3000, Drake, Erykah Badu, Kendrick Lamar and a few others. The project features production from DJ Scrim, Physicks, T-Black the Hitmaker, ZiggdaKidd and more. DJ Chase adds some vintage hip-hop style scratches in the intro track. Brandon Finklea also provides a few great piano compositions throughout the project to glue it all together. The project also boasts a feature from fellow Louisiana rising stars Billie Brasco, Bulu & Merci. - GetYourBuzzUp
After releasing “All I Ever Wanted” project over a year ago. Kel gives fans a visual for the next single Room 112. Kel takes viewers to an all white party where he is the center of attention dressed in all black. - Spillinthetea
I sat down one on one with Alexandria’s Own Kel for a private listening session of his highly anticipated mixtape, #AllIEverWanted. Kel has been working on this mixtape for the past two years. Listening to the tape in different atmosphere’s; situations; and moods, Kel’s #AllIEverWanted mixtape did not disappoint. From production to lyrical content, Kel satisfies the listening ear.His leading single featuring Billie Braso $$$ prepares listeners for what sound is to come.
I’ve decided to do a semi breakdown of each track, just to give you a hint of #AllIEverWanted. Just a heads up these are all my own opinions.
Let Me Live ft DJ Chase
Kel reaches out to Scrim for production on this track, and majority of the mixtape. Kel opens up about all things he’s ever wanted not just for himself, but his family, and daughter.
Dolla Signs $$$- ft Billie Braso
Being the lead single from the mixtape, $$$ is all about that paper chase. What we “grind” for on a daily basis. The video was filmed downtown Alexandria. Check it out here.
Room 112
Kel paints an entriquet picture of things that went down in Room 112 at his college dorm at ULM. This was very new subject matter for Kel on a track. He is more open about his personal interest.
New Benz (prod. by DJ Scrim, Physicks & ZiggdaKidd)
New Benz is quite an interesting 3 part track about a Benz of course. Do you think a Benz is the symbol for a “Momma I Made It” moment?
All I Want ft. Merci (prod. by Physicks)
This track serves as the title track from the project. Merci adds the perfect vibe to this track with her vocals. Kel is determined to get his career poppin and flex for all the haters and naysayers.
Sade ft. Bulu & Keci Maryland
This is my all time favorite track. The sensual record is an ode to Sade herself. The Bulu feature sets the track off with a different dynamic but still keeps it sexy. If you listen closely you can here both artist metophorically rap Sade lyrics
Tupac Prayer (prod. T Black the Hitmaker)
This track is a tribute to the ghetto disciple, Tupac. Kel embodies Pac and chants the “Hail Mary” chorus. Kel says when recording this track he actually dressed as Tupac to give the record a true Tupac feel.
Voicemails (prod. by Brandon Finklea)
Originally this track served as the outro but now an interlude, great fit. But these are all voicemails to Kel from supporters and fans. Giving him encouragement about the production of the mixtape.
All I Know “Money, Cars, Clothes” (prod. by DJ Scrim)
Kel talks about the cultural influence in his life with money, cars, clothes and religion.
Take it off (prod. by DJ Scrim)
The next single from the mixtape, Take It Off describes that “Gemini experience.” Kel opens up about how he has a thing for bad girls.
On the Scene (prod. by DJ Scrim)
This track serves as Kel’s “Started from the Bottom, Now we’re here” type record. He starts with his team and ends with the same team. They’ve made it to the champagne lifestyle.
Tevin Calls (prod. by Physicks)
Kel and Tevin talk about the sacrifices their parents made just for them to “make it”.
Night Cap ft. Jovonna (prod. by Physicks)
The title is sex explanatory. The conversation at the end is very interesting, Where Kel and the girl are engaging in the a conversation the day after their night cap. She tells him she trust him and he second guesses her. This was a relatable moment, if not for listeners but for me.
Family Matters (prod. by DJ Scrim)
The ultimate family reunion song, LOL! But Kel talks about his family influence. His father did music and Kel followed his footsteps. He opens up about how his grandfather passing hurt him but he made it through those troubled times. I love the voice mail from his grandmother
Wouldn’t miss it for the world ft. Keci Maryland (prod. by DJ Scrim)
This is the perfect over the top record. Brings great closure to the mixtape. With the organ, church choir, drums, and even the chuckle from his daughter at the end.
Kel really shows his growth as an artist. He became more open as an artist and let fans and listeners into his life. This build a story that people will cling and hold on to throughout his career. Now stream the mixtape below. Leave your thoughts, your opinions and your views. I am all ears. - spillinthetea
Kel has been putting in major work for the preparation of his upcoming mixtape #AllIEverWanted. Sunday (Jul 13) Kel had a listening session for the unreleased project for fans, media, artist and more to have a sample of what new music is to come.
Apart of the session Kel revealed the visuals for the lead single from the #AllIEverWanted mixtape, $$$. The single features Alexandria’s Own Billie Brasco. Filmed in Alexandria, the video depicts a day in the life a car wash attendant, portrayed by Kel, chasing those dollar signs. You can spot cameos from Tevin Blackwell, Speedy T, and various more. - spillinthetea

Bio
Born in the summer of 1990, Keldric Bonton (Kel) was influenced early on by his familys choice in music with performers such as: Earth, Wind and Fire, LTD, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly and many others. With his father having attended college in the late 70s at Southern University in Baton Rouge, who was no stranger to the phenomena Southern University Band, would later in life take young Kel to hear the magnetic sounds of Southerns band perform. To no surprise, after many trips to Baton Rouge in his youth with his father, Kel decided early on that one day he would become a musician and play in a band while writing rhymes at the age of 15 taking the name Killa Kel; later making it in the band to play in the halls of Peabody Magnet High School before graduating in 2008 just as his father did. Later that year, he released his first mixtape titled College Preparation Vol. 1 solely on his own and has to date released 7 mixtapes with his most recent release titled, All I Ever Wanted.
Taking a different route to college than his father Kel attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe where he would continue his career as a rapper while going to school; later becoming a graduate in the fall of 2012. Before graduating from ULM he decided to open up his own Indie Label in 2012, Flyy Guy Entertainment, upon receiving mounds of support for his 2011 single track release Southern Belle which still receives constant airplay to this day as a hit amongst the various HBCU's in Louisiana proving that hes more than capable of holding his own alongside the new wave of energy in hip-hop music. Prior the release of Southern Belle Kel made the decision to let go of his previous moniker Killa Kel after some soul-searching ideas about who and what he represents as a rapper, artists and musicians.
Slated to release mid-October - All I Ever Wanted - has proven that a name change or critics cant stop Kels movement in the rap game with forthcoming hits like: Take It Off, Wouldnt Miss It, New Benz, and more. With successful hits like Southern Belle, LATX, Project X2 and Dollar Signs ($$$) growing momentum and constant airplay on local and neighboring radio stations such as: Kiss 98.7 (Alexandria), 102.3 Jamz (Alexandria), Max 94.1 (Baton Rouge), 100.1 The Beat (Monroe) and a host of internet radio stations has helped expand his market of listeners and earned him the credits of Best Local Artist, Artist of the Week, and Top 10 Countdowns. Kel has continued to perform all across his home state (Louisiana) constantly booking upcoming concerts, performances as well as appearances.
