Bio
The fresh femcee Kazee.Queen, also known as Faylita Hicks, is an American rap recording artist. Faylita was born in Gardena City,
CA but spent most of her childhood on the move as a military brat. Her
family eventually migrated to Austin, TX where Faylita would begin to
pursue her music and acting career. In 2003, she began her Poetry Slam
career and spent the next decade competing, touring and teaching Spoken
Word while working on her Bachelor's degree and MFA in Poetry at Texas
State University. She has been able to perform in hundreds of
venues in the last decade, releasing four Spoken Word Albums in the
process. Faylita is finally venturing into the Hip Hop world with her
alter ego, Kazee.Queen and manifesting her powerful lyricism and
performance in the transition from poet to femcee. Matching hard hitting
lyrics with intense imagery the poet is now the street griot and cipher queen. In January of 2015, she released her first Hip Hop EP, Collision City through her label, Grid Squid Entertainment. Listeners and current
fans have watched on as she has shared the stage with national and
local hip hop artists Blueprint, Illogic, Billy Tuggle, Chief and the
Doomsday Device, Rider's Against the Storm, Queen Deelah, Da'Shade and
many others.
