Kayla Medlen

When referencing the late Etta James in her song, "Somethings Gotta Hold On Me" Kayla says, "It's music, and it won't let go." A native to Huntington, WV, Kayla is no stranger to the stage. Dating back to 2010, Kayla has been throwing down the music scene with her unforgettable vocal runs, stage presence and soul belting for quite some time now. 

She has shared many stages such as local hot spot The V Club, The Boulevard Tavern, Country Boy Brewery, WV State Fair and the infamous El Gran Sabor in Elkins, WV. She has also gotten to travel all over the world performing at places such as The International Blues Competition in Memphis, TN all the way down to Jacksonville, Florida and the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France back in 2014. 

Inheriting a love for the blues (the likes of Etta James, Susan Tedeschi, Janis Joplin) Kayla has forged her own identity. Her original songs have something to share with everyone from "Unforgiven Sin", a rhythmically funk jewel about jumping in on your emotions to "Leftovers" a powerhouse blues screaming, "I'm a woman and I'm in charge". Kayla's favorite place is by far the stage where she says she's a story teller. "It's my job each and every time I sing a song to convey a story to the audience. If the audience doesn't feel the emotions I feel at the end of the song, then I am dong something wrong...whether it's happy, sad, pissed off, confused; I want them to feel it in their soul".
