Bio
From skipping school to make mix tapes in his bedroom, to opening for such acts as Rich Homie Quan, Mario, Keyshia Cole, Lil Boosie, Plies, VIC, DJ Unk, Murs, and DJ Luke Nasty,(to name a few) and being Award Nominated, Seems like Music was always in the plan for this multi-talented musician, artist, and designer...sort of.
Born in Waco, Texas, Raised in New Bern, North Carolina, and Dwelling in Tampa Bay, Florida, JUWOLS was no stranger to the art of music...or travel for that matter. Born to a military father and a mom that doubled as a pianist/singer (a la Alicia Keys), Juwols was able to read and write music notation by the age of 4.
Music was always just something he did naturally.
However, even though he reached such accolades as holding down the coveted 1st chair position in the trumpet section in school growing up, or becoming the pianist or drummer at church, It was never something he considered having a future in. This changed, however, after an unfortunate event in high school benched his career in basketball, and school wasn't really on his "must-do" list. It was in that moment that JUWOLS decided to not only chase a dream he kept secret from everyone of writing and creating, but to create a unique artistic space and business.
Creating and distributing a whopping 13 mixtapes in a span of 5 years, JUWOLS brilliantly fused together a brand of quality & quantity in a then pre-Lil-Wayne era. In 2010, Juwols decided in order to go any further, he had to handle the production and musical direction himself. His first endeavor "The Memo" was released that year, and though it was a far cry from the underground rap sound he was known for, pushing into a direction that any major label would bite at, it was a commercial and indie failure resulting in the lost of his home.
"I ended up moving south to Tampa again that year, and I just spent the entire time re-grouping, re-branding, re-LEARNING business and things," Says the now 2-Time Carolina Music Award Nominee (Best Male Hip-Hop Artist).
What followed in the next few years was been nothing short of amazing, releasing the "The BlackTape", "Loser ep", "Impala SS", "Thank You", "December 10th", and "Purple.Trill" albums (with the last 5 albums receiving radio play), while reigniting the "Myspace Mondays" Project in the form of "Facebook Fridays" (1 new song every Friday for a year), and growing an online cult following. He has even managed to work with industry artists (Justice League, Gorilla Zoe), Grab the attention of Slip-N-Slide Records, not to mention a couple of nominations from the state of NC.
But even with all of the success from being a musical artist, his artistic itch just wasn't closed to being scratched.
It was during this time that JUWOLS started to become well-known for not only his rap, but his production skills. Taking this as a second calling, In 2022 he dropped the mic, and the switch was made. JUWOLS went on to produce for a number of independent artists including Lil Flip, Trae The Truth, and behind the scenes music roles for the URL (Ultimate Rap League). Besides the numerous Radio commercials, JUWOLS not only produces for others, but has released a number of instrumental projects, including the "Friday the 13th" series, and entering the Lo-Fi space.
"I want to bring my brand of music, fashion, art, and my message Trill Life to the world. I think I will..."
Simply put, this mask-wearing producer, singer/songwriter, omni-instrumentalist, designer, and artist definitely brings a new level of musicality to the world via his distinct Phonk/Electronic hybrid sound and "Trill" message!
