John Paul Hodge and No Fences brings unbridled outlaw country and rockin' Americana, creating a traditional country sound...with a twist. Their originals add a dimension that is soulful and engaging and rebellious in attitude. This band of experienced musicians is reminiscent of a time when making authentic and sustaining music took priority over industry norms. John Paul Hodge and No Fences grew out of a desire to get country "back" to what it was originally intended to be. From all backgrounds and musical tastes, these musicians are showing that there is still room for authenticity.

John Paul Hodge writes and sings all of the music for the band. Originally from Upper Lake, California, he's been musical since he can remember, raised on outlaw country and driven by soul. He's written hundreds of songs that are prolific and diverse. John has played solo, acoustic shows for many years and has added his unique vocal style to bands The Dirtboys and Guerrilla Radio among others. He and Dayton Hicks gathered musicians Shane Wallace, Jay Fitch and Hugh Castor to complete No Fences. Dayton comes from a rock background, also currently a bassist with Fierce Bad Rabbit. Hugh has loved playing drums since before he can remember, also currently playing with Paul Chet and The Whiskey Chickens. Shane and Jay bring the necessary Wyoming element to No Fences. Shane plays an incredibly sound lead electric guitar that comes only from playing with a variety of musicians over many years. Jay, the wisest of the bunch, provides amazing pedal steel. He's played with more musicians than can be listed, but his vast experience shows with every performance.

Originals like Bakersfield Drawl, Big and Rich, Call 'Em Cowboy and Kiss You on the Lips mix with tributes to Waylon & Willie, Johnny Cash and The Marshall Tucker Band as if they were written together. John Paul Hodge and No Fences shows are strong and real. Nothing is watered down, nothing compromised.
