As someone who's love for hip hop has waned in the last couple of decades or so due to its rage against the women folk, it's nice to hear an MC who keeps the spirit of the game alive, but is sincere enough to take the high road when it comes to crafting flows. The Brooklyn-based J. Keys does what I wish a lot of rappers would do as he pays homage to all the women in the hip-hop industry and beyond on "Diggin' In the Crates For Love." With a crisp and clear flow, he name checks dozens upon dozens of femme fatales from decades past, as he goes from Queen Latifah to Lauryn Hill then takes a u-turn to give props to the R&B/soul set, showing love to the likes of Patrice Rushen, Sheila E., Jody Watley, and so on and so on. It's really a great retrospective of all the women of color who have been inspirations, especially to guys of J. Keys' ilk throughout the years, and Keys' aural love letter is just perfect for celebrating Black History Month. Not to mention with the free download you can play this one well into March when Women's History Month takes up the calendar dates, so I consider this a definite win-win for the girl power movement. - SoulBounce.com

In the wake of the killing of Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, and Michael Brown among others; Keys felt compelled to use this hard hitting track to speak on much of what’s happening today. - BK Nation
J. Keys drops the final visual off the KeymoTherapy Mixtape and takes the stance that the ‘Game is Dirty’ and someone should clean it up. Hopefully he will help lead the charge. Keys takes it to the gritty city back streets for the ‘Dirty Game’ video taking a look at the not so glamorous life that lies buried just slightly beneath the sparkly surface. - Rap Reviews.com
We have seen a lot go on currently involving police murdering unarmed Black men. It is unfortunate that we are experiencing these encounters even worse that the cops responsible are not being tried in court. So will Artists speak out and make music talking about this issue? Some have done this and one of our good friends J. Keys has done just that. His latest track “Guilty” deals with this topic over a hard hitting beat produced by Cultural Bastards. - JayForce.com

In the wake of the killing of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, and Mike Brown among others; Keys felt compelled to use this hard-hitting track produced by the Cultural Bastards, to speak on much of what’s happening today. - the9Elements
