An independent musician from Santa Barbara, CA, JAMEY GESTON is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, (vocals, guitar, bass, piano, ukulele) and visual artist. The renowned area creator is one of our region’s most promising young performers.  With her dark twist of earnest lyrics, haunting melodies and harmonies; Jamey represents a new generation of songwriters. Unlike many of today’s most interesting recording artists, her music can’t be easily categorized, she delivers her own blend of sounds that create a dreamy, vintage feel with smart nods of current folk-pop that can easily throw you back to the sixties. 

Compared to artists like Angel Olsen, Adrianne Lenker, as well as a "young” Joni Mitchell, she writes songs and makes music that paints a picture that can send a message in unconventional ways.  In addition to music, she is also a visual artist who is inspired by artists who push boundaries, as well as dark emotion. Her art combines a certain softness of feeling, delicate edges,and introspective wonder. Her music coincides with art, using her designs to create merchandise, as well as album art and show posters.

No stranger to the stage, she has opened for some notable artists/musicians such as; Judy Collins, Peter Frampton, Albert Lee, Jeff Bridges, Melanie Safka, HAIM & Dishwalla.  

In January 2017 she released her first single, "Malibu" and received favorable reviews.  Enthusiastic about her first release, in May 2018, she moved on to release her second single "Sonic Baby" taking her first road tour "Hello, Summer! Tour," The tour proved to be a success and a whole lot of fun as she hit the Southwest, starting with 3 shows in Santa Barbara then stopping in Scottsdale, El Paso, Austin (2), Shreveport, Dallas, Albuquerque, & Flagstaff. The experience was more than she expected and it only fueled her more "to get outta town and travel with my music."

After the tour she got back into the studio and worked up some more dreamy sounds.  “Pretty In Your Eyes”will be the second single release from Geston's forthcoming EP “Different Grounds” (Fall 2019) from a series of dreamy, rock-infused folk songs. Throughout the upcoming releases that she has planned, listeners are sure to find tracks with dark and earnest lyrics, haunting melodies, and expansive harmonies.  Different Grounds will be a 6 track EP that she had wholeheartedly given her time over the past 24 months.
