J Pope and the HearNow are a musical collective from Baltimore City who play their own brand of Soul and Hip Hop... a "funk-infused group that captivates crowds with its call-to-action lyrics and soulful sound"... "one of Baltimore's best kept musical secrets" according to Baltimore Magazine. The band’s presence has been requested to share the stage with acts such as Esperanza Spalding, Tank and the Bangas, Avery Sunshine, Cory Henry and the Funk Apostles, Kindred the Family Soul, Kenny Lattimore and Sidewalk Chalk.
The HearNow's debut album, Soul Searching, was released in June or 2017 to a sold out audience. In July of 2017 the band was featured in Weathervane Music's (philadelphia based non-profit) "Shaking Through" series. Collectively the band is made up of teachers, healers, community organizers and activists. J Pope and the HearNow run on good music, positive energy and hard work.
