Bio
Bronx Native MC, Intikana, is an international award winning writer and performer. He has featured on VH1 and toured extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Tanzania, and Uganda, East Africa. Intikana has shared the stage with artists such as Immortal Technique, M1 of Dead Prez, Styles P, Talib Kweli, Raekwon, Jay Electronica, Nitty Scott MC, KRS-One, The Last Poets, Saul Williams, among others. Intikana is the 2014 End Of The Weak USA National MC Challenge Champion and his recent EP "Native Eyez" was nominated for three Native American Music Awards. He currently tours with DJ Perly who is the 2016 New York DMC Battle Champion and 3x Freestyle Mondays DJ Battle Champion. Intikana also performs with percussionist Jose Ortiz aka Dr. Drum who is musical director of BombaYo Afro-Puerto Rican Youth Project.
Intikana met Nas when he was 17 and the encounter changed his life. That moment greatly influenced Intikana's understanding of destiny; eventually inspiring him to lead a career in Hip Hop Education. As a teaching artist and youth mentor, Intikana has dedicated ten years to educating youth & adults in hundreds of universities/colleges, high schools, shelters, group homes, and prisons. Providing unique programming to disadvantaged youth, Intikana has had the honor of having Large Professor, Liza Rios, Chris Rivers, and various artists in his classroom. Intikana co-hosted Family Day with Torae at the 2014 Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival. He has also presented his music at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The Hip-Hop Theater Festival and many other prestigious institutions. He is the recipient of The Bronx Council On The Arts' BRIO (Bronx Recognizes Its Own) award for excellence in Performing Arts and actively seeks to heal the masses through delivering substantial music with a message.
