A small crowd gathered early at the Caledonia to catch Funkasaurus Wrex kick off a Thursday night. Despite an unfortunate broken car windshield via amp the band was in great spirits, starting the night with a garage band meets keyboard blues funk. They offered up some surprisingly original covers of Shakedown Street by Grateful Dead and Cocaine by Eric Clapton. Peppering in a few original songs, including a shout out to Weaver D, Wrex showed off their interesting fusion of styles and left the crowd grooving. Ending their set with a perfect tribute to Perpetual Groove, Funkasaurus Wrex lived up to the name and set the tone for a smooth, funky night. - The Queue Athens
