"Debut PONYHOF, “TIGER” { Wishing on the stars with the vocal assistance of Will Butler of Arcade Fire."

Ponyhof is the band led by Carrie Erving, a Bushwick, Brooklyn based singer and composer. Shaped by a diverse array of people, places, and things—including Erving’s time spent living within a tight-knit artist community in Berlin—the project is a distinct one, highlighted by light, angelic vocals and opulent instrumentation.

“Tiger”, the ethereal single from Ponyhof’s 2014 debut, Empires, is a thoroughly graceful tale of self-discovery. Highlighting its themes is the track’s new video, a superb and cinematic clip that juxtaposes Erving’s words with the innocence and wonder of childhood; a young boy looking to the stars for answers speaks to the curiosity in all of us. “Tiger” features guest vocalist Will Butler of Arcade Fire (a high school friend of Erving’s) and it’s plain to see how the two musicians might share a kindred spirit. - Impose

"MPFree- Ponyhof- Tiger"

"Ensure you let this slice of beauty-cake into your life...Ponyhof is New York-based musician Carrie Erving and is the first single from debut Album EMPIRES, which was released last month. It was written and produced by Erving and mixed by former DFA producer Eric Broucek, and features Arcade Fire’s Will Butler on backing vocals. Carrie lived in Europe for four years before returning to Brooklyn in 2010. She lived in Berlin for three years of those years – and Ireland for a year – where she recorded and released her actual debut album under the moniker Erving. Always interesting to see a travelling artist write music and hear how that influences their sound. You can certainly hear it in this case." "Arcade Fire's Will Butler played solo at Baby's (video, setlist), sings on new Ponyhof single"

In related news, Will sings on "Tiger," the new single by Brooklyn act Ponyhof who themselves played Baby's not too long ago. Check out the video for that below as well. - Brooklyn Vegan

"Friday First: Ponyhof featuring Will Butler-- Tiger"

The moment we first heard Empires, we were blown away by Carrie Erving’s polished, evocative sounds; the record mixes a variety of influences (and superstar cameos) gracefully and effortlessly. “Tiger” is no exception, with Erving’s elegant vocals careening across a delicate background, lush lyrics enlivening “the tiger in [her] heart.” Erving and Will Butler are old friends from high school– you know, no big deal– making for a subtle, superb collaboration. Highlighted by gorgeous instrumentals and ending in a fiery blaze of screeching guitar, “Tiger” is a standout track from Empires and a true sonic gem. --Full article at above URL link. - Bushwick Daily

"The Irish heritage has left a mark on Erving’s vocals, with hints of hard-not-to-mention Irish singer Sinead O’Connor...Erving manages to incorporate a number of different genres... [an] ambitious sound" --Full article at above URL link. - Gimme Indie

"Ponyhof (elegant, dynamic, emotional)"

"Carrie Erving starts singing and I’m's a great vibe they've got going here. The song climaxes at the unfolding of the last verse...into what will surely prove to be one of the year’s wildest guitar solos, especially since it is in fact being performed by Loxley on that electric cello of his." -- Full article in above URL link - Fingertips Music

"Upstairs Invite with Ponyhof"

"Like many of Bushwick’s most talented artists, you might pass her on the street every day and not realize she’s on the verge of some really big things...the record, which drops on January 20th and was mixed by renowned DFA mixer Eric Broucek, features cameos from a roster of famed collaborators....riddled with literary references and gorgeous, emotional stories that reflect not just her own life, but also the one we live collectively... the magic of Ponyhof is both delicate and energetic, lighthearted while also quite deep, fresh yet undeniably familiar; think St. Vincent meets Bjork atop flourishing dance beats." -- Full article in above URL link. - Bushwick Daily

"Arcade Fire is blazing a trail to Coachella with a world tour, Oscar nomination and new song collaboration (listen)"

"...Today, Brooklyn songstress Ponyhof (Carrie Erving) premiered a track from her debut album, Empires, called “Tiger,” for which Will Butler jumped on board. Clearly, the indie rocker didn’t sit still for for long after his notable work on Spike Jonze’s feature film, which is also up for Best Picture.

Listen to Erving and Butler’s collaboration below (the two are apparently longtime friends from high school), and if you’re in the area, stop by the Empires release party on January 20 at Glasslands in Brooklyn — get your tickets here."
