Bio
Houston Keen is an upcoming singer / songwriter; raised from the southern roots of north Florida. Holding his first single, a 5 song EP, and a mass of dates under his belt, Houston has progressively moved from the bedroom to the mainstage over the course of two years. His ultimate goal is to relocate to the Austin, TX area and join the “Red Dirt Movement” as an independent artist.
Continually booking after high school, Houston has fallen into a schedule of late weekend nights at the local bars, pubs, and clubs of the north Florida area. This trail of tour dates has since allowed him to pursue other goals, such as achieving a bigger internet following, and opening for national acts; such as Granger Smith (Earl Dibbles Jr.) and We The Kings.
Houston’s earlier life would include things like a half battered guitar, a notebook full of scribbled words, and a backpack full of homemade CD’s. He would spend his time, both in and out of school writing, performing, and perfecting a craft that would soon allow for an income. Pushing his music throughout high school, Houston has achieved a following of over 15,000 on Twitter, 2,500 on Facebook & Instagram, and over 1,000 plays on every Spotify song. His following has since provided him a great advantage with booking distant gigs, as there are always fans in the area of the venue.
Today, the singer / songwriter is involved with major marketing stores (iTunes, Pandora, Spotify), potential managers, and a list of calendar dates that grow daily. He is currently interested in booking distant venues, as he pursues his goal of touring nationally. He is also the voice behind Gainesville’s #1 radio station, 103.7 The Gator, for his debut single, “Paper Notes”. He is currently pushing the same single onto other airwaves in the Texas and Ohio areas.
The future of Houston Keen is seen with opportunity and a drive. The internet basis for this artist is growing every single day, and ceases to stop. He continues to grow a fanbase, connecting to the point of even requesting original songs in bars. His personal street team keeps a firm hold on an evergrowing fanbase; presenting a personalized promotional poster, giving away free music before the show, and building a mailing list throughout each venue.
