Hello, Atlantic

In a climate where getting your music heard around the world is easier than ever, it can be almost impossible to cut through the noise to really stand out, but that’s exactly what Hello, Atlantic have done with their EP, ‘Night Life’.


Taking cues from the late 2000s era of emo, when Panic! At The Disco and My Chemical Romance reigned supreme and rock bands were inclined to sprinkle a dose of theatrics into their music, Hello, Atlantic have managed to bring a touch of intrigue into the modern rock scene that sets a creative and playful tone that’s sure to cut through the heavily saturated musical landscape of 2019.

The EP starts off strong with ‘Awake/Alive’, delivering an energetic vocal performance from Ian Dillon that’s as catchy as it is powerful, but, the real highlight of the EP is the titular track itself, which showcases some of Dillon‘s extraordinary vocal abilities reminiscent of early Panic! At The Disco accompanied by staccato strings, a bouncy acoustic guitar, and a keyboard arrangement that wouldn’t feel out of place on ‘A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out’.

That said, at no point does ‘Night Life’ give the impression of being unoriginal, or as though they’re just imitating older bands from ten years ago. Hello, Atlantic have flawlessly crafted a unique take on a sound that they’re incredibly comfortable with, but aren’t afraid to shake it up and try out new things.

The ‘Night Life’ EP is a rarity in that it really sounds like nothing else out there right now, and it won’t be surprising if it helps forge Hello, Atlantic an impressive career, rocketing them to the top of the scene. - Ally Bowie
