Heather Janssen

Singer, songwriter, composer, and guitarist, Heather Janssen is a 20 year old musical phenom. Heather was always incredibly into music as a child. Its been an important element in her familys life. A fan of such diverse singers and songwriters like Adele, John Mayer, Coldplay, and Tracy Chapman, Heathers honest lyrics and soothing voice are sure to pull at your heart strings, and bring you back to sense of nostalgia. Sometimes I wonder if I didnt have music, who would I be? Id be a woman of God, first and foremost. But he gave me this voice for a reason. I wish I could truly explain the passion and happiness I feel when I write a song and sing it through for the first time, but its just something that can only be experienced. There wasnt a defining moment for me where I realized I wanted to be a singer and songwriter. It is honestly just always been a part of me, like an extra arm or a second leg, thats just continued to grow with time. Its one of the ways in which I identify myself, says Janssen.

It was in 2008 that Heather started to take the actual singing aspect more seriously. Looking for feedback on all of her original work, Janssen turned to the popular video-sharing website YouTube. After posting many of her videos online, soon enough she was receiving positive feedback and praise. Because of her presence online, Heather has established a supportive fan base of over 34,000 subscribers worldwide as of today.I think people are just beautiful. Like really, really beautiful. In the things we say and do, and how we inspire each other. Ill hear a conversation, notice a couple reading the newspaper together on a park bench, or see a photograph someone has captured, and Im inspired. Its just so simple, how we can inspire each other. My songs come from simple moments in life, and I think thats why people can connect with them in the deep way they do, Says Janssen.

In the summer of 2011, Janssen got approached by American singer-songwriter and YouTube phenom Tyler Ward in hope of collaborating with the budding star. Their collaboration has garnered more than 3 millions views online, and just from there attracted the attention of industry executives and major labels, eager to hear more. It hasnt been an easy road for Heather, by any means. However, through the struggle of trying to find out her purpose, shes realized just how incredible a part music is to her life. I took a year off for school because I didnt know what I wanted to do. Then I went to University and dropped out after the first semester. While my siblings were excelling in their academics, I was writing songs in-between searching for full time jobs and trying to figure things out. I felt useless and defeated. But during that time, I realized I need music. I just cant do anything other than music, because Id be lying to myself, and Id be wasting my life away doing something Im only half passionate about. Life isn't supposed to be lived that way.
