Grecco Buratto – Essas Coisas Todas
Latin Grammy nominee for production Grecco Buratto makes his solo album debut with Essas Coisas Todas, a collection of 14 original Brazilian pop tunes heavy on high-end production values. Individual tracks feature the talented singer with Brazilian nights in his voice, singing with everything from a small combo to a string orchestra.
Since all the songs are in Portuguese a non-speaker like myself can’t speak to their content. There is Buratto’s website description of the album as “a meditation on Love, the existential questions in each one of us and the beauty of being human,” and certainly from the intensity of his performance this would appear to make sense. Whether it is indeed accurate, is a judgment I can’t make.
There is one judgment I can make. Grecco Buratto is steeped in the traditions of Brazilian music and he has produced an album that takes those traditions and makes them audience friendly and contemporary. - BlogCritics.org
LOVING the debut album from Brazilian artist Grecco Buratto. Perfect Sunday afternoon romance and melancholy music.
I’m not a speaker of Portuguese. So although I cannot understand this from a lyrical point of view, I simply love it. I love it because it comes from a place of truth and of love. A “Meditation on Love” being the central theme of the album.
The music is simple and yet complex. I can hear influences ranging from The Beatles to Radiohead. From bossa nova to folk to rock and even tinges of pop. A complete album … a journey. Fourteen tracks recorded with legendary Benny Faccone (15 time Grammy winner) and co-produced by the amazing Marconi De Morais.
Grecco is by no means a new kid on the block, this guy (who in 2014 performed an acoustic set at Ku De Ta) has worked and toured with Shakira, Earth Wind and Fire, George Duke, JJ Lin, Sergio Mendes, Airto Moreira and Flora Purin. Fair to say he has guitar chops.
My favourite track from the album is Mais Um … a moment of simple truth and quiet melancholy. I disappeared into this wondrous composition. Mais Um, meaning “Another”, (basic Portuguese, I know) the music is a simple spacious bossa nova and the tone of Grecco’s delivery was absolutely enchanting.
Another standout track O Amor a Voar – starts with a French accordion (Musette) and evolves and ends with a traditional flamenco rhythm and Jaleo vocal. My kind of music. Makes no sense on paper but to your ears … magic.
Momento – finishes us out with a lovely collage of electronica and acoustic fusion. Nice way to let us off the hook. Thanks for the ride Mr Buratto. This one will be around on the playlist for a while. - The Yak

Born and raised in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil , Grecco Buratto started playing guitar at the age of 8. At 12, after seeing the catalog for a music school in Los Angeles, he decided to move.
In 1995 , at the age of 18 , he relocated to Hollywood to attend the Guitar Institute of Technology (G.I.T.) at The Musicians Institute.
Upon graduating school, he received the Outstanding Human Relations Award and was nominated for the Stylist Award.
Grecco is a well sought after musician/producer/songwriter in the L.A. music scene. He has toured , recorded and performed with artists as Shakira, k.d. lang , Enrique Iglesias, Sergio Mendes, Airto Moreira and Flora Purim, P!nk, Earth Wind and Fire, Keiko Matsui, Antonio Carmona, Leehom Wang and many others .

"The idea to do a solo album came when in 2005, I started writing lyrics and music together. To my surprise these songs were in portuguese and heavily influenced by classic brazilian composers such as Tom Jobim and Chico Buarque as well as more contemporary ones as Lenine and the uruguayan Jorge Drexler."
To bring his vision to reality, Grecco enlisted the expertise of producers Marconi de Morais and Sandro Feliciano and multiple time Grammy Award winning engineers Benny Faccone and Moogie Canazio.
The album was recorded in Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Rio de Janeiro and Madrid and is a collaboration between Grecco and his closest musical friends. It features special appearances by k.d. lang, Antonio Carmona, Lucy Woodward and Debi Nova, percussionists Mauro Refosco, Gilmar Gomes and Ze Luis Nascimento, flautist Jorge Continentino, keyboardist Renato Neto, accordionist Rob Curto and harmonica player Will Galison .
"We took 7 years to finish and during this time I devoted myself completely to the process. I wanted to do the absolute best I could, where time and budget were, within an independently financed reality of course, of no importance. My objective was to be totally happy and proud of it. I can't wait to share it . "
Grecco has performed in several capitals of Brazil as part of the SOFAR SOUNDS Projetc as well as London, Paris, Tokyo, Stockholm, Austin (South By Southwest Music Festival, 2009) and at The Carnegie Hall in New York, with cape verdean artist Mayra Andrade.
