Grampas Grass is Organic Soul Rock. It’s the perfect blend of
Americana, Blues, Soul, and good ol’ Rock & Roll. First thing
you’ll notice is the vocal presence and power of Lisa Malsberger, she
sounds like the love child of Janis Joplin and Aretha Franklin. The
girl can tell you like it is, while channeling love and pain from the
depths of her soul like few others. While you’re getting lost in her
singing you may notice the stories within the songs, that there is real
lyrical depth in the songwriting, or the great musical collaboration
between the band members. With Lisa’s husband, John Malsberger, leading
the songwriting charge and melodic guitar lines and lead guitarist
Brett Davis laying down tasty licks you have core of the Grass. Add the
rhythm section of bass player Chris Schmoke, drummer Rich Kaylor and
the sonic powerhouse of keyboardist Eric Lockhart you have one hell of a
band. Listen to the studio albums and you know you're listening to a
great band, then come to a live show and you’ll see that this is a live
band that prides itself on different sets each night, thriving on being
able to improvise at will and delivering a live show that never
disappoints.
