Figuz is an underground indie artist out of San Angelo, Texas. His career began at the age of fifteen (15) freestyling at house parties. In an effort to advance his career, Figuz worked with Bugged Out Records and he recorded his sound over popular instrumentals and sold his cassettes to expand his fanbase. From crew to crew, cassette tapes to CDs he began perfecting his craft by writing and producing his own music and dropping mixtapes to gain additional exposure. Figuz has opened up for artists such as, Lil Flip, Slim Thug, Chingo Bling, Bun B, Chalie Boy, King Kyle Lee, Yung Joc, Yung Berg, Frankie J, Big Sid and has performed at numerous showcases and charity events.

Currently, there are two (2) mixtapes “Money Man Mu$Ic” and “For the Money, Not the Fame” available free on DATPIFF.com for his supports. Skilly: Where did this all start? Tell us about your journey in the entertainment business.
Figuz: For me it all started back in middle school. I had a friend who at the time, like a lot of my school mates would freestyle on occasion. We went on to form a duo and began to sell our cassettes to classmates, friends, and family. At first it was just freestyles but as time went on it progressed into more serious songwriting and I haven’t put the mic down since.

What would be your biggest piece of advice for the young kids out there trying to do what you do?
My advice would be to never forget why you began to chase your dream in the first place. Whatever your dream may be something other than money, fame, and stardom led you to chase that dream. For me, it was my love for the music. In an industry so demanding and aggressive you tend to lose sight of why you even do it in the first place.

What are some of the hardest challenges and tasks in your position?
I would say the sacrifices that I’ve had to make to chase my dream. Such as birthdays, anniversaries, and just over all quality time. Countless hours and money invested on a dream that for over so many years has yet to turn or profit. It’s hard to stay focused.

We all know the entertainment business is very tough, but what do you find is the best way to promote and advertise your music?
Obviously by now social networking is the most fast and effective way to get any and everything out there to billions of viewers on a global scale. To play the game you have to stay relevant and stand out!

Tell us about your city. How are the artists and the fans?
I’m from San Angelo, Texas and the music scene is extremely diverse and the fans can be a tough crowd, but for the most part are willing to give it a chance and well-spoken\ about their feelings towards it. The support could be better numbers wise, but the ones who support are die hard supporters.

Where do you see yourself a year from today?
Musically and dream wise I hope to be on the road promoting the music even if not under anything major. A little independent tour is what I have in the works.

Who and what were your biggest inspirations? Who do you look up to in today’s world?
My mother has always been my biggest inspiration. Just knowing her story and seeing her first hand overcome it all and keep smiling was enough to instill in me that anything is possible when you have the lord by your side. Being brought up by a women of her caliber I had no room for excuses.

How do you feel about the music coming out today? Do you like it?
I enjoy all genres of music. I can see why this generation is so enticed by today’s music. Though a lot of it may not be my cup of tea, from an artist’s stand point I enjoy the artistic and creative process side of every artist/entertainer. I appreciate the art form, the passion, and the heart. - Skully Magazine

Money Man Entertainment is an indie record label founded in 2015 by label mates Jessie Castillo aka Figuz and David Flores aka D-Flo.

Shortly after joining forces in 2014 they decided to give their movement a name and the Money Man Entertainment (MME) label/brand was born. Initially the label was created primarily as a platform for the two CEO/artist, they do plan on taking in potential clients.

D-Flo is the voice of the duo, known for his unique vocals and catchy hooks but is never to R&B to spit a mean 16.

Figuz is the rapper/engineer of the two; known to kill a verse then turn around and mix and master it himself.

Figuz and D-Flo recently dropped some new tunes including the most recent D-Flo single, “Lettem Hate” which was released just a few days ago. A couple of weeks prior to that, Figuz released the D-Flo assisted “City’s Asleep,” and that came just a few days after “Willie.”

Figuz and D-Flo are currently in the process of working on their first official collaborative project. Together they combine a smooth R&B feel with hard hitting lyrics; a blend of today’s sound with an old school delivery.
