Ever since I first heard her on Sho Baraka’s “Lions and Liars” album, I’ve wanted more from Erica Cumbo. She’s been doing music though as part of the CAJO (Canton Jones) camp, with collabs with various artists and on mixtapes. Erica brings a realness and rawness of lyrical skill and flow to the christian hip hop/r&b game. There aren’t many females in christian rap who know what they are doing, but Erica is one of the few to keep your eye on! Erica Cumbo is a
Singer, Rapper, Writer & Worship Leader who uses music to bring life
& hope to everyone who listens!
Erica was born and raised in Long Island, NY where she developed
her love for Hip Hop & R&B. Though she was born into a very musical
family, she credits much of her talents and musical abilities to her father
Curtis Cumbo, who she grew up watching as a writer, musician, Worship leader
and much more. The Cumbo family was very active in the Church which gave
Erica the ability to witness and appreciate the power of Gospel Music at an early age. Little did she know that being exposed to Gospel music and
watching her father lead worship would be preparation for her musical path
ahead.
Erica and her family left New York in 2000 and relocated to
Atlanta, GA where they began to attend World Changers Church International
under the guidance of Pastors Creflo & Taffi Dollar. It was
there in the Youth Ministry that she began to discover her passion as an
artist, combining her love for Hip Hop, R&B, & Gospel Music.
She got her official start as a Gospel Artist in 2005 at the age
of 18 years old under the tutelage of the award winning Gospel Artist - Canton
Jones. She was signed to CAJO Records in 2008. During her time there
she had the privilege of touring with the CAJO Family and producing her freshman album
"Beauty for Ashes" in 2012.
In 2013 Erica parted ways with CAJO Records to continue to produce music and
perform as an Independent Artist. She would later decided to
take some time off of producing music to focus on her family and to
balance her Church responsibilities. Through it all, she never stopped
singing and using her gifts.
In addition to being an artist, Erica serves faithfully at
World Changers Church as a Music Director and Worship
Leader. She also works with the Youth Department in developing teens
that desire to lead worship.
Erica Cumbo made a grand re-introduction to the world in 2018 by
releasing her highly anticipated single "No Way".
She is working on her next album and continues to convey her message of God's
love on every stage she stands on.
