EchoLab occurred in a black dreamscape that once materialized over a complex of abandoned manufacturing and warehouse facilities in the industrial wasteland of Passaic, NJ. Witnesses claim the apparition was accompanied by a barrage of violent booming sounds emanating from the facilities. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the apparition triggered recurring psychotic episodes among witnesses, especially women, causing them to experience what has been described as "hauntings" marked by intense hallucinations and sympathicotonia. In recent months, this phenomenon has reportedly afflicted non witnesses as well, which leads some to believe that the hauntings may be hysteria-induced
