Bio
DRACO has been writing poetry since he was around 7 years old. Originally wanting to be in a punk rock band when he was a teenager. His dream came true later in life as a studio band project with Steve Sxaks & Ethan Mintz Of Marsten House Recordings called Damn Dirty Commies. His sound transitioned into rap when he was about 18. Without any professional studio equipment at first, But the passion for rapping was undeniable, no matter what he needed to be heard.
His main musical influences are The Golden Age of Philly Punk Rock Scene (Early 2000's). Around the same time, he took interest in the local Horrorcore and Hip Hop scene. As well as Gothic and Industrial acts who came through town and played events like Dracula's Ball and Nocturne. His sound is eclectic and impossible to narrow down into one particular genre. The experimental nature of his work providing opportunities to play in multiple different scenes his peers weren't able to by default.
On the more personal side his influences are struggling with the mental health system, and having a nomadic outsider perspective that shines through in his work. Other influences that inspired his core values along the way were Anti-Fascist Activists (Pre-Antifa groups such as the Redskins and Northeast Anti-Fascists East Coast Branch). As well as LGBTQIA+, Anti-Bullying, and Disability rights activists.
With over 15 years in the music industry under his belt. He's been known to be that guy with a flashdrive ready to get on stage wherever an opportunity arises, his hunger for performance and dedication to his artform solidifies DRACO's place in the proud tradition of Philly Emcees.
