Our homegirl Sydney Love is a bad gyal on the 1’s and 2’s. The international disc jockey has opened for Amine, held it down for OVO’s Roy Woods, and even spun at our Gloesha event last early December. She shines in a male dominated field, and as a woman in a similar situation, I enjoy supporting her in her endeavors.
Just in time for Black History Month, Sydney recently dropped a nice hour-long mix of lively, feel good cuts inspired by a recent trip to Nigeria. VIVA LA AFRIQUE includes cuts like Drake’s “Controlla,” D.R.A.M.’s “Broccoli,” and other upbeat riddims that are sure to get you in the mood. Stream the mix below: - Brooklyn White

Bio
Sydney's inspiration to DJ stemmed from studying hip-hop legends such as DJ Scratch, DJ Supreme, DJ Hi-Tek and DJ Clue. In the beginning stages, Sydney interned as a personal assistant to Hip-Hop legend, DJ Scratch, on his live broadcast channel ScratchVision. There, she learned the most important basics and importance of the DJ craft.
Born of Nigerian and Brazilian descent, Sydney was partially raised in the Bronx, New York and then Miami, Florida.
Sydney's vast knowledge of music grows by the day most especially due to her traveling nature. Her genres of focus is Hip-Hop fused with AfroBeat, House, R&B and 90's Dancehall. Sydney has had a long track record of sharing the stage with major recording artists by opening their performances and most times, performing with the artist as their DJ.
Sydney has grown as a DJ both locally and internationally.
Early 2016, she debuted internationally for the first time in London and later went on to DJ in Lagos, Nigeria. Since then, she frequently visits and plays in the U.K. and Africa.
Often described as humorous and laid-back, when it comes to music, she immediately shows her true spirit:
Which is,to please the audience & enter their hearts by way of sound.
