DJ Tootz

DJing started with our dad Keith Rice. He wasn’t a big DJ but he did parties in Memphis. He died from cancer when we were 13. At the age of 16 we decided to throw a Sweet Sixteen. Our older brother Nick dj’ed the party and mentioned to us that we should start DJing. At that time we said no because we only wanted to host parties and play tennis.Around 2013 in college, we heard Big Sue on k97. Big Toot said "What if we started djing, we would be so live!" Lil Toot thought it was a crazy idea and was not convinced at all. We emailed Big Sue and she gave us a guide as to what we will need to buy to start djing. It took us an entire year in a half to get equipment but we worked hard, saved our money and bought the equipment. We then asked Big Sue to teach us how to DJ. To our surprise, she basically told us we had to teach ourselves. We then took our studies to YouTube and started what is not DJ Tootz.

As time went on, we began to get more involved with social media. We began to grow a following (11,000 followers on instagram) and decided to start doing djing videos. We found out along the way that a lot of people think we are funny, so we decided to start making funny skits. We learned how to edit videos and post them on Instagram and Youtube. By doing this, we began to have a love for acting. We recently just got a role as skaters in the Netflix series “Uncorked” written and directed by Prentice Penny. This inspired us to write our own TV Pilot “The East”. We also learned how to skate in 2018 so you can catch us rolling around at a skating rink or djing at one.We have a lot to get done, so in the mean time and between time, Check us out on Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.
