Today we’ve got a special treat in the form of “Rides,” the debut single by Loser City co-founder Morgan Davis’ group Denise. Recorded at Eastern Sun Audio by Matt Simon (Voxtrot, Tele Novella), “Rides” is a rambunctious bit of indie pop perfectly timed for the tail end of summer, with a sweet-and-sour vocal performance by Kate Doherty that brings out the full flavor of Vinh Ngo’s reverb-heavy guitar. Austin residents can catch Denise at Spider House Ballroom on Thursday, September 18th with Portland’s fantastic Genders and K Records’ Ruby Fray. - Loser City

Austin based outfit Denise (formerly known as stickers) recently spent a stint at Eastern Sun Studios exploring the depths of their sound. The result is the very solid 5 song collection Warsh Yer Onezie. Denise’s leading lady Kate Doherty’s alluring voice complimented by fuzzy guitar slanger and key jammer Vinh Ngo’s occasional vocal intrusions creates a sound reminiscent of the shortly lived Cari & Jason Band and the greatly missed Belaire with a fully rounded tempo courtesy of drummer (and Ovrld editor) Morgan Davis.
