denise russell is a singer songwriter who has collaborated and performed with Jack Schantz(former musical director for the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, Alton Lee Hood of the band DOC(Disciples of Christ), Lead Singer Eliot Sloan of the Grammy Nominated Band Blessid Union of Souls. She is a gifted songwriter with a true Style all her own. Represented by Michael Farley (Michael J. Media Group), denise russell was asked to be a part of the support team as an opening for Diana Krall and Norah Jones when they performed at Blossom Music Center. denise was asked to be the Opening Act for Faith Evans at the House of Blues/Cleveland when her record label requested that she have an opening act at the venue.
denise has been out of the spotlight by choice these past few years instead choosing to be by her mother's side,Shirley, who recently passed away from Alzheimer's Disease.
"I come from a very gifted musical family. My mom was an amazing pianist.She never took a lesson, she played by ear..She would hear something on the radio, and if it struck her fancy, she would sit down and write notes to herself and start to play. I don't know what she wrote down, to help her memorize things, because she didn't read music!! All I know is that by the end of the day, she had the song down perfect and she would play it for my brothers and my sister and myself..Music has always been a part of my life.I am excited to play out again, to connect with people on that one on one level. My mom had a lot of wonderful caregivers in her life and at the end of it...she was surrounded by love.To me, music is love..it just connects people to each other...Strangers become friends through the connection of music and lyrics that strike a chord in the listener from the creator of the music....There is something SOOOO magical about that and so I'm excited to be a part of that again."
