Portsmouth, VA native Darlene S. Jackson recently received the honor of being named a finalist by Song of the Year (http://www.songoftheyear.com/) songwriting contest. Song of the Year is an international songwriting contest supporting VH-1's Save The Music Foundation. The Song of the Year judges are some of the biggest names in music including many Grammy Award winners.
Song of the Year is excited to recognize Darlene for her exceptional songwriting ability for the song "God Is Standing By". Darlene competed against songwriters from all over the world for this honor. When asked what inspired the song, Darlene commented that she wanted to encourage people that were going through hard times to let them know that no matter what situation they are in, God is standing by.
Currently, Darlene is concentrating on her songwriting and music career in the direction of getting a record and publishing deal. She wants to share with others all over the world the gift that God has given her and that her music will minister to everyone. - Song of The Year Songwriting Contest
