Dan Oettel

Career music educator turned composer/performing artist.  A pianist that takes the audience to a place where they haven't been, an evening with Dan Oettel is a memorable one.  Listeners are treated to a contemporary take on piano composition one would expect from someone who primary influences include Chopin, Debussy, Keith Jarrett, with a smattering of keyboard driven rock bands of the 70s, especially Supertramp.  

A background heavily immersed in classical, jazz, and compositional training led to this surprisingly modern sound and although primarily instrumental, the program includes vocal selections, and significant piano and melodica improvisation.
