Leilani Finau (Haida/Samoan) and Waylon Mendoza (Lakota/Mexican) play blues-rock as Daisy Chain, but they didn’t initially bond over their indigenous heritage. Leilani had heard a CD that Waylon had put out, and she thought he might be a good mentor. “Because his voice is so deep,” she recalls, “I thought he was an older guy. I thought we could collaborate, and maybe he could help me get gigs.” The two started talking on the phone; Leilani was in Seattle while Waylon was back on the rez at Eagle Butte, South Dakota, home of the Minnecojou band of Lakota. Eventually, they realized they had something in common.

Bio
Daisy Chain was officially started in 2008 by Leilani Finau and Waylon Mendoza and bringing together a blend of Rhythm & Blues to Rock Your Funky Soul! The funk is brought by Forest "Fo" McPeak on Bass and Matt "Hospitality" McAlman on Drums. We are very pleased to have added Chris King to our repertoire, on guitar, vocals, and harp! Waylon recently parted to focus on his own music and we wish him well, keep on jamming!
Daisy Chain has performed throughout the Northwest including performances at Folklife, Hempfest, Salmon Homecoming, and Tulalip Heritage Festival. Daisy Chain has also played a wide range of venues including the Showbox SODO, Dante's, Neumos, Scarlet Tree, and The Mix to name a few.
