Civil Culture is a peregrination of contradictions super-imposed in the sonic spectrum. Listening to the call and answer of one's existence to find the harmonizing tensions of life, Civil Culture lends itself to an open mind.
Debut Album - You Are Greater Than the Sum of Your Parts:
The idea behind the album is heavily centered around “Epiphenomenal Qualia”. The songs hone in on personal relationships and the experiential nature of existence and relating it to broad topics of place and being. The album art is a homage to the elemental makeup of the human body. Jeff, Tyler, and Conor each picked an element of the human body to exemplify in the artwork which they felt best related to them. Jeff chose carbon, Tyler chose sulfur, and Conor chose halite. Each element is displayed in it’s crystalline form throughout the artwork. In relation to the album title the elements that were chosen are just aspects of the human makeup, the culmination of the material coalesce into an experiential reality that to this day seems hardly understood and lies at the frontier of what Jeff refers to as inspiring art.
