Bio
Chuck has been playing the guitar since 1983, thanks to being initially inspired by the rootsy picking of John Fogerty. Prior to that, an ear had always been tuned to Beatles, Broadway tunes, film scores, classical and jazz. For the past 15 years, Chuck has focused on the "American Primitive," fingerstyle traditions, performing mainly original compositions. This is a fairly eclectic style, with an emphasis on country-blues and ragtime. Influences are John Fahey, Leo Kottke, Merle Travis, Chet Atkins, Roy Book Binder, Steve James, Paul Geremia, Dave Van Ronk and John Jackson, amongst others. Chuck has performed his roots-influenced original guitar music on Portland, Maine's Channel 4, as well as before live audiences in South Carolina, Boston, Cape Cod and Maine. His original music will be featured in 2011 in the internationally distributed feature film, "Scooter McGruder." He was recently featured on WMPG's The Locals with host Issac Shainblum and has also been featured on US Folk with Chris Darling.
Having peformed in a variety of settings, Chuck is open to performing at house concerts, festivals, small dining establishments, coffeehouses, weddings, concert halls, community venues and as accompaniment to spoken word artists, as well as licensing his compositions for film and TV and radio productions.
