Bio
Christophe Filippi is a French multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, composer, and producer, based in Los Angeles, CA. Self-taught based on a wide variety of musical influences, Christophe combines traditional and modern instruments and genres in music that crosses over from classical to alternative, spanning instrumentals and songs with lyrics in various languages. Christophe Filippi composes for choreographers and filmmakers seeking original soundtracks for their work. He contributed music to the hit TV series So You Think You Can Dance, and the live show Blanc de Blanc at the Sydney Opera House. More recently, Christophe composed the score for the short film Sane People by Gene Gabriel (2018). He also contributed original music for the Salt Lake City Repertory Dance Theater. Christophe Filippi has released four albums since 2014: Movements, Continuum, Silent Circus, and recently The Current State in May 2018.
Christophe often uses a combination of instruments and loop pedals for his solo concert performances. Alternatively, he is accompanied by other musicians on cello, violin, piano, and/or drums.
Aside from his solo work, Christophe Filippi is the lead singer and guitarist for the fusion hard-rock duo Schwaggers, who are currently recording their debut album. Prior to that, Christophe was a lead singer, guitarist, or drummer for numerous rock bands in France and the US, among which Newborn Division and Streamview.
Christophe Filippi is also a filmmaker keen on musical concept movies that he creates in collaboration with his wife, Kayla. Together they have produced the live music and dance short, Continuum. Christophe & Kayla are currently working on a music video series featuring Christina Ricucci, as well as a short film based on Christophe's album Silent Circus.
Outside of the art world, Christophe Filippi is a scientist with a Ph.D in Immunology. He previously worked as a research investigator in the pharmaceutical industry prior to his transitioning full time into an artistic career in 2016. Christophe is also a WSET-certified wine enthusiast, currently working to establish a small business offering select wines imported from France and Germany.
