"Casey Cope wants to 'Like U'"

Casey Cope is a 22 year old rapper-producer from the East Bay Area. With influences ranging from 90s pop-punk to modern hip hop, his genre-clashing sounds vary from most other traditional Bay Area rap. His debut EP 'Indigo Blues' is due out early 2018.

"Like U" is the definition of, "laidback being cool" and Casey Cope, "doesn't want to do it like you" and I do not blame him. I am sure you are wondering who is this kid?

Well, strap in and clean out your ears. Casey Cope has a soft, thoughtful flow full of wonder and a wit comparable to the transgressions suffered. This young rapper is going to be something soon and I cannot wait. There is a real yearning and desire here oozing from his lyrics with the beat to match.

If you need something different, thoughtful, smart, and underground then look no further. If you are in California go buy yourself some legal green and enjoy.

"Casey Cope - indigo blues. (EP Release)"

A little over a month ago, 22 year old artist Casey Cope graced the @HOFisbetter pages with his single, “like u,” a chilled out record showcasing what Cope believes separates him from the rest of the pack.

To further his message to the masses, the Bay Area MC and producer unveils his debut EP, indigo blues., entirely self produced, without samples, by the man himself. As mentioned, Cope’s instrumentals open up like the sun parting the skies after a menacing storm, with the ironically, yet aptly titled, Kid Cudi-esque “moon,” and continue to shine bright. The sounds are often as introspective as his lyricism, filled with riffing, beach chair guitars and upbeat Boom Bap drum lines that give the EP an overall feel as cool as the NorCal Pacific breeze. Lyrically, Cope cracks open the window into his personality and lifestyle with 6, all encompassing tracks that can give listeners a true first look at what to expect in the future from the growing MC.

"Casey Cope - like u"

Bay Area artist Casey Cope doesn’t want to do things, “like u,” and that’s what makes the 22 year old different from the rest.

Cope crafts a soft, chilled, audio-hammock of a production for the track itself, using it’s smooth, Boom Bap surface to slide in a smorgasbord of insightful, self indulgent lyricism that paints a pretty clear picture of what and who the rapper is now, and wants to become in the future.

For those looking for slick rhymes and even cooler instrumentals, look no further than Casey Cope’s, “like u,” which can be found on the artist’s forthcoming, debut EP, Indigo Blues, later this year. - Hofisbetter

Still working on that hot first release.

Casey Cope is an artist, producer, and executive producer from the Bay Area. He creates most of his music with collaborators Big Soda & Marquito which leads to an eclectic array of sounds not commonly heard in hip hop. His influences stem from Kanye, Childish Gambino, Smashing Pumpkins and The 1975, to name a few. Cope's heavy usage of synths and punchy drums set his sound apart from many Bay Area artists. Casey prides himself on his live shows, having performed for over 10 years and opened for the likes of Curren$y, Rakim, and Kota The Friend.

Casey Cope and Marquito also created and executive produce Qamp, an event with the goal of creating an album & making-of documentary in 3 days. They select the artists, produce tracks, lend vocals, mix the album, & provided the studio space (The Q in Berkeley, CA). Qamp album & documentary is available on streaming & YouTube.

Cope's strive to simply create great art is his main motive. This way of thinking propels his sound into genre-bending directions that still maintain a cohesive idea. Casey also takes part in every aspect of his songs, producing, mixing, and mastering almost all of his music.
