Assisted by Shepherds, who adds additional vocals, and Masego on the saxophone, Cameron makes a strong first impression with this smooth offering. A change of pace is always nice. That's what 'Regular Guy' was for me. Out of Virginia comes songwriter and producer Cameron Murdoch with this tune that is not exactly 'regular'. Cameron lays a mix of warm vocals and rapping over his self produced instrumental consisting of upbeat drum and bass to generate a unique laid back, but yet still energized vibe. A melodic whistling from Shepherds adds a different element to the song, while a tranquil saxophone solo from Masego to close out the final minute of the three minute song serves as icing on the cake. Side note, Masego's collaborative project with Medasin, titled The Pink Polo EP, drops June 30 so be sure to check that out too. Regular Guy is a single off of Cameron Murdoch's upcoming "Prelude to Better" EP, which does not yet have a release date. - College of Music
Virginia based talent Cameron Murdoch makes his debut with “Regular Guy,” a smooth cut featuring sporadic whistling from Shepherds and fluid saxophone from Masego.
As Cam muses, “I’m a regular guy, the world around me is not,” he opens up about his take on the struggle of dating and romance in today’s day and age. It seems as though our generation has a skewed view of what it means to ‘fall in love,’ and this song addresses that with grace.
Murdoch is not only a producer and emcee; he is also a cellist and guitarist. His musicality serves him well, as he creates a striking song that helps to convey the emotion he seeks to deliver with his words. Look for “Regular Guy” to be featured on a forthcoming EP, Prelude To Better. - Artistic Manifesto
Finding new artists to listen to that instantly make your head nod and ears dance with happiness isn't such an easy thing to do nowadays. With the flux of new artists sometimes you can feel flustered, but today you can feel at ease with Cameron Murdoch's "Regular Guy". With smooth vocal accompaniment from Shepherds and the jazzy sax by Masego, this tune is one of the best I've heard all week. - OK-Tho

It’s honestly not fair what’s coming out of VA right now. Another great sound maker to grace us with music is Cameron Murdoch. The Artist and producer dropped his first single entitled "Regular Guy”. The track in his words:
PORTRAYS THE PLIGHT OF DATING IN THE MODERN ERA AS HE REFLECTS ON HOW OUR GENERATION PERCEIVES FALLING IN LOVE.
The single featuring jazzy saxophonist power house Masego is off of Cameron’s forthcoming EP Prelude to Better. As a classically trained guitarist and cellist himself he infuses genuine musicianship with what he says is his “poetic honesty”.
The single in leaps and bounds is a feel good sonically appealing song laced with Cameron’s airy and deep vocals. Add a little Masego and boom! We are in lust with this song and can’t wait to hear more from the up and coming singer, songwriter and musician.

Cellist, guitarist, rapper, singer, composer; our new submitter can do it all. Trying to, in his own words, bring “vigilance to music,” Cameron Murdoch is an artist’s artist. He wants his music to be more than just random words over random sounds; he’s going for meaning.
His track, Regular Guy, has that as he tries to tempt the object of his affection to give him a chance. The cool thing is that he’s looking for something than a one-nighter. His solid lyrics are full of that self-doubt that can come from a being around people who don’t see love as something attainable or lasting. His bars and vocals are strong and he switches between the two with ease without losing momentum. The whistling from Shepherds and saxophone solo from Masego round out the track on a strong instrumental note.

As we head into the second half of the weekend, I become pretty obsessively into music as a distraction until the weekend. Luckily enough, I get a lot of great submissions at Discobelle, including this amazing track by Cameron Murdoch called “Revival.” The stunning song features house-influenced rhythm over well thought out lyrics, and the result is magic.
According to the artist himself- “This is my favorite record from ILM2 because it serves a reminder that I’m alive, I am not alone, and I have everything that I truly need. I hope that anyone listening to this record can reflect, with joy, on what makes them complete.”

Midwest hip- hop artist Cameron Murdoch is a music force to be reckoned with. Compared to the likes of Frank Ocean and Childish Gambino, Cameron sound is out of the box and in no way shape or form compare to the modern day hip-hop some has coined Mumble Rap (or as I like to call Glam hip-pop). Cameron combines his smooth melodic hip-hop flow over captivating beats that will get your body moving and your thoughts on overdrive! His current single Revival might not make you want to go to church but it will make you want to get up and get your life!
What’s so dope about Revival
When I hit the play button to hear Revival, I was captivated by a smooth tropical house beat which had me vibing out and dancing! But when Cameron start rapping, it took the song to another level! Thanks to Cameron word play, he took my ears and mind on a journey for three minutes and twelve seconds that I did not want to end!
As a person who is all about words, that was one another reason I gravitated to the song but one verse stuck out to me on a personal level and I cannot stop saying it: at 5 am I get for y’all and at 6 pm I get down for the culture…
That verse right there, it spoke to me because that’s real life! It’s my life and others who work during the day but grind at night!
Listen to Cameron Murdoch’s hit song Revival and share your thoughts on his track in the comment section! Also, if you feeling Revival like I am, cop his debut 6 track EP I Love Me Too (due October 7, 2016). - Soulyouknow
Cameron Murdoch, the twenty-six year old Minneapolis-based rapper delivers honest yet clashing thoughts surrounding the unknown that comes with finding love, expectancy towards modern day lifestyles, and the ever-blurring line between self-esteem with self-realization, all integrating in a mixed smorgasbord of alternative hip hop and low key R&B, even if it does fall short in duration, given that it is only an EP, the all-around quality in ILM2, is a small, but effective bag of goodies.
In most cases, these types of assortments contain sweet sugary production that splashes in tropical punches, made best with the bombastic single, Revival, alongside the intro track, “U Time” filtering bells that pulse like heartbeats while Murdoch conveys that in all relationships, people need time together, and also time apart. Even though the connection rhyming "U Time" with "Me Time" gets slightly overdrawn, the ending delivery, "Hold me down in the meantime", does round the song back together, both thoughtfully and earnestly when it comes to long distance loyalty.
And that’s the key to this record, loyalty, the rounded theme for an album that predetermines braggadocios underlining demeanor, with an EP titled "I Love Me Too". But, in this case, Murdoch is lovingly self-deprecation when he needs to be. On the slow burner, IWDWS, the EP cools down the mood with a far escape of high-end pianos expressing Murdoch's full form of romanticism. In the midst of Kid Cudi or Drake vibe of a loner heart, and not like the 90s boom of ‘gangsters need love too’ era of staying hard and baller while letting the only sweet girl in a swarm of bitches know that “hey, I'm not really a bad guy" but more of a wholeheartedly slick collaboration of human expression.
ILM2 is a perfect layout of Murdoch’s strengths, creating extraordinary but fun hip-hop jammers. - DopeCauseWeSaid
Midwest MC Cameron Murdoch crafts surrealistic anthems of self-realization and love; taking the golden age of jazz-infused hip hop into the future with buttery beats and astute, contemporary perspective.
Murdoch’s melodious roots spring from his past as a cellist and guitarist and his musicality suites him well as an emcee / producer. After releasing an array of mixtapes and albums under varying pseudonyms which were heavily influenced by early output from Kid Cudi, Childish Gambino or Frank Ocean, Murdoch finally arrived in his current form; finding his voice in the world’s ever evolving playlist as a sage-like seeker of truth.
I Love Me Too (out October 7th) is the first EP to be released under the Cameron Murdoch banner and is a refreshingly honest entry into the current rap eco structure. It is well suited for both heady listening and breezy background vibes, registering well with Murdoch’s self-imposed ordinance to not flood the ears with wordy content. The young emcees ability to express some degree of enlightenment while meeting the listener between their comfort zone and a better life makes I Love Me Too a relevant listen for those awake persons that don’t want to stop having fun - GetMoneyMusic
Virginia artist Cameron Murdoch drops a six track EP “I Love Me Too” featuring multiple
artists and producers like Masego, Marq Beezy, Krs. and etc. Cameron Murdoch has been
gaining a lot of buzz this year because of all the good music he’s been dropping. - MoBoombox
If you’ve been longing for hip hop that looks a little bit more into itself but can’t cope with the overly rich, many times gloomy music of cats like The Roots, we’ve found you an artist to look out for. Cameron Murdoch has made up his mind to create music with emotional and artistic depth, but which the listener can instantly connect with, like they do with what’s on radio. It’s easy for the Midwest native to create the exact sound he envisions as he’s not just a singer or a rapper, he’s a multi-instrumentalist producer. He was a guitarist and cellist in a past life. And Murdoch did have a couple of past lives; he has recorded under different monikers in the past. But after these trials he decided to break down his music into a less wordy, more easily digestible format. Instead of verbose soliloquys of his sorrow, he opted for catchy, melodious songs that radiated positivity. Make no mistake however, it was not about selling out or compromising content for airplay. “I think that it requires a special talent to bring substance into such an undemanding art form.”
Murdoch’s commitment to convey his feelings and experiences in a readily palatable form is evident in his latest EP, ‘I Love Me Too’, released October 7. This is the first project he’s dropped as Cameron Murdoch. The album opens with ‘U Time’, an easy-going trap-infused love song produced by BNJMN. If you didn’t know better you’d say it was Bryson Tiller or GoldLink on the vocals, especially with the overarching darkness in the instrumentation. ‘IWDWS’ is still tainted by that gloomy air but it brings a bit more energy. However, even if this acronym for I Wanna Dance With Somebody doesn’t get you moving, ‘Revival’ will. Laced with deep house vibes, this track is one of the I Love Me Too standouts in our humble opinion. There is a tropical feel to this banger and the addictive drums are sure to keep you grooving for the entire three minutes. We’ve posted the entire album here for you to explore the rest of the songs at your leisure. If you’re happy with what you hear, download I Love Me Too and keep up with Murdoch on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. - WeDoItForTheLoveOfMusic
Cameron has always been a young man that has happily rested in my radar as a young musician, composer, producer and up and coming emcee. He continues to occupy the space with more volume with his new project I LOVE ME TOO. He sweetly outlines self love and growth with his notable upbeat tempo and beautiful melodies. The Ep in his words is:
"...a relevant listen for those awake persons that don’t want to stop having fun."

Reflecting on his dignified return to his zen roots, Murdoch states “I started out doing some of the same things that I had in the past but none of them were working.
