Calvin Rose

Born Devonzio Jonta Rose on the dirt roads of Mississippi, Calvin Rose II, stage-name Calvin Rose, wants nothing more than to take the world by storm with his artistic visions. Stumbling upon music at the young age of 6, he didn't really consider his gifts to be just that. Thinking it was something everyone could do he placed those skills aside to focus on other aspects of art. He spent most of his free time drawing until age 14 where he decided that it was time for a change of pace. Penning his first musical work in 2004, he spent the next 2 years writing and freestyle-rapping in the privacy of his home along side of his older sister. In 2006 a close friend urged him to showcase his talents in a more public setting. Being forcefully volunteered to participate in his first freestyle session at 16 Calvin would grow to love not only the attention but the feeling of performing in front of a live audience, feeding off of their expressions and energy. In 2010 he would drop his first mixtape titled, “Out for a Walk” which was a 10 track tape recalling a failed relationship that left him questioning not only his passion for music but purpose for living. He would spend the next 5 years performing at various open mics and hip-hop showcases to improve his stage presence and delivery. During one of these shows he would go on to book a slot for a performance at SXSW as well as a co-headlining slot of a 3 month long country wide independent tour in 2015. During the Get Money Stop Hatin tour he would release his second attempt, a 12 track EP named, “So What’s Next” which is currently available on bandcamp for purchase. With hits such as, “City Behind Me” “None of That” and “You Ain’t Ready” under his belt Calvin went across the nation gaining fans for his music as well as his movement.  Calvin is currently working on his 3rd project, “The Awakening” which is slated to debut mid 2017.
