Born Sisters positively put on their best ever show Saturday at Kruetz Creek Vineyards. The weather was awesome, the crowd was large and ready, the band was tight, and the sound engineer they hired did a spectacular job. What more could you ask for? Wine you say? Yes, there was lots of wine! The night was perfect on every level. - Michael Lawrence Imaging

Songwriting duo Kara and Kristen Zagorskie, aka Born Sisters.
It's been a busy few months for siblings Kara and Kristen Zagorskie.
The musical duo otherwise known as Born Sisters has been playing nonstop weekend gigs throughout the area, including the Unionville Fair and the Kennett Flash, and they've been preparing for a new recording session next month.
Oh, and they also flew to Nashville last week to play at the Country Music Hall of Fame, after winning a nationwide songwriting contest.
The girls submitted two songs to the Wake Up Nashville songwriting contest, which was created as part of the non-profit agency's fundraising and outreach efforts regarding narcolepsy.
Two of the girls' songs - "Country Love" and "Leave" - were chosen for the top 10 by a panel of judges from country label and publishers Savannah Music Group, Kristen said.
Kristen said that the competition was extremely fierce; especially since the contest was attached to a city many consider the home of country music.
"Nashville is a big music city, so anyone who wants to get noticed submitted a song," 17-year-old Kristen said.
The girls songs were picked out of a pool of hundreds of submissions, Kristen said, adding that the judges made their decision at the last minute.
"They picked really close to the concert date, like a couple of days before," 14-year-old Kara said.
"They were having a tough time - there's a lot of great musicians out there," Kristen added.
Kara said that since it was a songwriting contest, the judges focused more on the lyrics than on the music itself, noting that they did not write the songs especially for the
"We had written them in the past year or so," Kristen said, adding that the pair shares all songwriting duties and credit.
The girls performed "Country Love" on Sept. 29 at the Country Music Hall of Fame in front of "big, important people," according to Kristen.

Van Morrison was playing over the PA as the Flash filled to capacity Saturday night for a show designed to “give these kids their own time to shine,” as Flash coordinator Lee Zagorski put it.
In this case, “These kids” encompassed the progressive-acoustic rock stylings of the Bill Rose Project, the fun and poetically inclined pop of the Calabrese Sisters and fellow siblings Kristen and Kara Zagorskie, performing as Born Sisters. Each performance was an indication of the wealth of talent this town holds.
Born Sisters, who opened the show, take a lot of their inspiration from Taylor Swift and like-minded contemporary country artists. On stage, they handled guitar, bass and piano between them with astounding ease. The bulk of their set was original songs that certainly wouldn’t sound out of place alongside Swift’s.
It’s worth noting that these girls are young — Kristen just finished her freshman year at Padua and Kara is at St. Patrick School. Saturday’s performance and their frequent appearances at the Flash’s open mic nights are definite beginnings for a fruitful career in pop music.
“Tough Love” was a standout kiss-off to a neighborhood boy with “fake hair” and trendy tight jeans. Kara and Kristen sing with a certain amount of conviction that’s rare in women twice their age. Their closing medley of Swift tunes didn’t follow normal standards for cover songs either: each one of Swift’s songs was injected with a little bit of Zagorskie panache.
