Boondock is an R&B band that sonically captures aspects of neo-soul, hip-hop, funk, and jazz. The band's primary influences range from Hiatus Kaiyote, Anderson .Paak, and Kendrick Lamar. The band's lead singer, Reuven Gonzales, discusses the complexity of an Asian American experience through clever, poignant, and deeply personal lyricism. The name, boondock, derives from the Filipino word for mountain where Reuven and his family has its origins.
