What started out as a one-time gig for the fourth grade talent show two years ago has given birth to arguably the hardest rocking kid band in Southern California. Bläk Reign’s youthful trifecta — Tre Coe on guitar and vocals, John Forbes on bass and vocals and Nathaniel Harris on drums — covers classic tunes by the likes of Green Day, Metallica, Lynyrd Skynyrd and AC/DC and writes original songs as well. The 11-year-old rockers have gigged throughout the Los Angeles area and Beach Cities, including Hermosa’s Café Boogaloo and The Lighthouse. Soon, the band may get its big break on the national stage: the young musicians recently had their second-round “America’s Got Talent” audition.
“We … would love to get the chance to travel to the Big Apple to compete with other talents,” Forbes said. “We also hope to grow our fan base and play music all over the South Bay, then the USA.”

Bläk Reign’s youthful trifecta – Tre Coe on guitar and vocals, John Forbes on bass and vocals and Nathaniel Harris on drums – covers classic tunes as well as original songs.
“When they originally got together they realized they couldn’t all play the same instrument, so a month ahead of the talent show one went base and one went drums,” Momager Brooke Coe said. “They’re all very musically inclined. They’re driven and practice all the time.”
The band has played gigs at the Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach as well as venues in San Diego and Hollywood. They also rock out a few times a year during block parties in their neighborhood.
“None of them have big egos about it,” said Coe. “Since they’re actually really good we’ve been able to get them lots of places to play.”
Their next gig will be open to all ages at the Dragonfly in LA on April 9. -CS

Bio
Blak Reign started in 4th grade when they decided to compete in their school talent show. Well, moving on four years later, they have since performed all over the Southland including Hollywood, Orange Country, San Diego and the South Bay. They made it through two rounds on America's Got Talent and have been writing originals to complement their covers which include Green Day, Sublime and Led Zeppelin. Being voted Best Underage Band two years in a row, these kids have a bright future indeed.
