Bill Abernathy mixes the best of Americana, Blues, Country, and even shades of Rock to perfection. It’s not often you come across an album or an artist that is equally strong lyrically and musically. But the 11 track “Crossing Willow Creek” has you covered on both fronts.
“Crossing Willow Creek” is a true coming of age, for Bill Abernathy, a portrait of an artist totally comfortable in his own skin and finding himself increasingly willing to color inside and around the Americana lines. His music will stay with you no matter what genre preference you may have. - JamSphere
Bill’s single “Cry Wolf” is the focus of this review. I must say, Bill is a great songwriter for sure. A great songwriter writes songs that you can relate to and are recognizable even though they may be new to the listener. In “Cry Wolf” this rings true. Great tune! I’m not saying it sounds like another song but it has a familiarity to it with a catchy flavor that sticks in your head.
Bill’s guitar playing is sharp, catchy, and the real highlight here in my eyes. He’s definitely and obviously a talented musician, guitarist and songwriter. Aside from Fogelberg and the other references mentioned, I also hear a touch of Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) from his blues/folk releases like “Sultans Of Swing”. Like I said Bill’s music can also be politically edgy and “Cry Wolf” is no exception. - Indie Music Plus
Bill Abernathy is a forward-thinking singer and songwriter with a passion for earnest lyrics and one-of-a-kind melodies. Recently, he completed a brand new album titled “Crossing Willow Creek,” a fantastic collection of songs with a timeless atmosphere.
Bill’s music immediately makes me think of legendary artists such as Dire Strait, Eric Clapton, John Mellencamp, and Bruce Springsteen. He’s got a unique style, which combines blues with rock, country, folk and more. In addition to his exciting musical ability, Bill is also a keen lyricist, with a passion for writing songs that are always genuine and easy to relate to for people from all walks of life.
He loves to connect with the audience with personal lyrics, that also have a social value. “Crossing Willow Creek” is a perfect example, and singles from the albums, such as “Cry Wolf” are also a great taste of Bill’s remarkable lyrical artistry and musical endeavors. - The Bandcamp Diaries

Cry Wolf
Chorus
Who’s crying wolf
We gotta recognize the
thieves in their tracks
Who’s crying wolf
We gotta separate the lies
from the facts
The truth is callin our
names loud and clear
But we’re running with the
pack that’s turned a deaf ear
We have got to learn……. Who’s
crying wolf
Verse 1
I turn on the TV and what do
I see
Politicians and a broken Governmental
machine
Assuring all the masses they
are building the American dream
While
spending all their time debating the latest tweet
Verse 2
I turn the next channel and
see a smile so bright
Spreading the Gospel, trust
me, everything’s all right
Keep sending your money, mark
it 501C3
Deductions for you and tax
free for me
Chorus
Who’s crying wolf
We gotta recognize the
thieves in their tracks
Who’s crying wolf
We gotta separate the lies from
the facts
The truth is callin our
names loud and clear
But we’re running with the
pack that’s turned a deaf ear
We have got to learn…… Who’s
crying wolf
Bridge
We post their howls in our
media feed
To get a few likes follows
and tweets
Like Sheep we follow the
programmed elite’s
But they are the Wolves and
we the raw meat
Verse 3
We hide all the flags, the
statues and the wars
George had it right in 1984
He controls the present, has
full control of the past
So we can repeat it complicit
in alternative facts
Chorus
Who’s crying wolf
We gotta recognize the
thieves in their tracks
Who’s crying wolf
We gotta separate the lies from
the facts
The truth is callin our
names loud and clear
But we’re running with the
pack that’s turned a deaf ear
We have got to learn…… Who’s
crying wolf
