Beyond The Sun just released their brand new single “Holding On To You” which is their debut single coming from their forthcoming two-part album, Shuffle, which part-one will be released on October 25th, with part-two dropping in Spring 2020. Now we have teamed up with the band to premiere the highly-anticipated music video for the single which you can watch below.
We spoke to the band on the concept for the new video and they told us, “This whole video concept came from Colin (our singer), we wanted to make an intensely sad video for a sad song. You’ll notice there are multiple shots throughout the video where the literal meaning of Holding On To You is displayed as well as the subtext of not wanting to let something or someone go. We are super proud of this video and we hope that the viewer feels something while watching this story unfold.”
The video was filmed and directed by David O’Donohue, who works with LANY, Russell Dickerson, Sasha Sloan and more. The video stars actress Alyssa Riley Burrell who has appeared in The Walking Dead, The Hunger Games and more as well as starring the band members themselves who consist of three tight-knit brothers, Colin on lead vocals, Phil on lead guitar and Dalton on drums.

1. Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Colin: Hey! Thanks for having us. We’re great, we have a lot of exciting things going on right now so it’s been fun.
2. Can you talk to us more about your upcoming single, “Holding On To You”?
Phil: “Holding On To You” is the lead single off our upcoming two-part album. It’s written from the place of having someone you love in a hospital bed. The feelings and emotions of that scenario and what would be said.
3. Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Colin: I think we’ve all had a moment in our lives where this scenario applies, whether it’s a spouse, grandparent, sibling, etc. The initial spark for the song came when I saw the movie The Choice with my girlfriend on Valentine’s Day. So, originally the song was born from fiction, but after we started diving into it we put our real feelings and experiences in, from losing loved ones in the past.
4. How was the filming process and experience behind the music video?
Dalton: David OD is the man. He’s such a cool dude to work with, and we were lucky enough to have him jump on board with this idea. We started talking to him back in early May, but we didn’t end up meeting/shooting the video until the end of July. We did it all in 1 long day in Nashville, and everyone involved from the cast and crew killed it. We couldn’t be happier with how it turned out and cant wait to show it off.
5. The single comes off your new album, Shuffle – what’s the story behind the title?
Phil: Long story short, in 2015 we almost gave up being a band. We wrote one song in 13 months, worked a dozen random jobs, etc. Fast forward to Feb 2016; we locked ourselves in Dalton’s studio and decided to write whatever kind of music we wanted, no matter where it fell in the ‘genre spectrum’. From labels to radio, people have never really known what to classify our music as so we decided to build our own box and brand it. After about a month, we had 11 songs completely written and recorded, and they spanned across all of the types of music we love. One day Colin just said “what if we call our music ‘Shuffle’ like the iPod?” – and that was it. This two-part album is the amalgamation of all that writing from 2016-2017, and “Shuffle” is the perfect way to describe it.
6. This being a two part album – would you call this a conceptual record?
Dalton: Yes and no — the album as a whole demonstrates the ‘concept’ of Shuffle and what that means, but it’s not a traditional concept album. Not like MCR’s The Black Parade or whatnot. There’s not one overarching story throughout.
7. How was the recording and writing process?
Dalton: Fun and grueling at the same time. We write, produce, and mix everything ourselves so it’s great to have that freedom to try whatever we want. I’m also our hardest critic, and I can spend two months on a mix. We actually finished the album a year ago, it was completely mastered and ready to go, but after doing the singles this past year (Be My Queen, Push The Pace, Back For More) – I felt like there were some songs on the album that didn’t sound as polished as these new releases. I re-mixed them and we just had them remastered this week, and now everything’s FINALLY ready.
8. How your upbringing influenced your writing?
Phil: We’re extremely lucky. Being three brothers is one dynamic, and being three business/creative partners is a completely unique dynamic. Our parents have supported us every step of the way. They’ve always encouraged us to be creative, be bold, push ourselves to be the best. A lot of our writing comes from our experiences, but our mom and dad are two of our biggest inspirations as well. One example being a song on Shuffle, Pt. 1 called “Long Way To Go” – it was inspired from our relationship with our dad.
9. Where else did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
Colin: Movies, TV, things people say, places we travel to, etc.
10. Any plans to hit the road?
Dalton: We’ve had a quiet fall so far in terms of shows but we have some things in the works for late Oct/Nov so we’ll see what happens.
11. What else is happening next in Beyond The Sun’s world?
Colin: Just getting this record out and having people hear it. We’ve lived with these songs for so long, it’s time to release them and support ‘em live. - Vents Magazine
Celebuzz! is excited to exclusively premiere “Holding On To You” by the pop-country band Beyond The Sun. The heart wrenching song is the lead single of their highly anticipated forthcoming album Shuffle (part 1 out October 25), and you can watch the video below.
“Holding On To You” was written from the perspective of having a loved one lying in a hospital bed, the band revealed.
They said:
“The idea of what that would look like and what would be said if this was your last chance to speak to that person. We chose it to be the lead single off our upcoming 2-part record Shuffle because sonically, it encapsulates the album in 3 minutes. ‘Holding On To Yo’” walks that line of Country-Alternative-Pop-Rock. We don’t know if there’s ever been a more ‘Beyond The Sun’ song than this one.”
Beyond The Sun is made up of three tight-knit brothers – Colin (lead vocals), Phil (lead guitar) and Dalton (drums) – who grew up just outside of Toronto. With influences like Ed Sheeran, Bleachers and Ryan Hurd, the band has coined their music as “shuffle,” constantly working on crossing the lines between genres. With a Dan + Shay meets Coldplay energy, you can expect high energy pop beats intertwined with the small town songwriting and storytelling made popular by country music.
Make sure to check out part one of Shuffle on October 25, and to keep up with the band, follow them on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Spotify! - Celebuzz
Beyond The Sun has been on a rise lately and their new song "Holding On To You" is absolutely perfect. Seriously, we can't get enough of it. We talked to them about the new music and what their main focus is right now.
Tell me about the new video for “Holding On To You” - what was the vision behind it?
Beyond The Sun: The song itself is heavy so we wanted to create a video that breaks your heart. It’s supposed to move you and make you think about your loved ones. How you shouldn’t take anyone for granted. Colin (our singer) wrote the storyline, and it turned out exactly as we intended.
At this stage in your career, what is your primary focus?
Beyond The Sun: To reach new people. To get on the road & see new faces.
What has been the highlight of the band so far?
Beyond The Sun: Puerto Rico 2013 & 2014. We headlined our first radio festival for 7,000+ in July 2013. Then the following year we came back to PR and played another show at the arena in San Juan, the Coliseo de Puerto Rico.
What has been inspiring you lately?
Beyond The Sun: Momentum. After each release, we’re always inspired to keep the hype rolling into something bigger.
What’s a weird challenge that is facing musicians today?
Beyond The Sun: That, unfortunately, it’s not about the music sometimes. Your art is judged by the amount of streams and followers you have. No matter how good your song is, that’s what the ‘industry’ cares about first.
What’s the best lesson you’ve learned?
Beyond The Sun: Nothing comes easy, working hard and staying consistent is the only way to move forward.

Pop band Beyond The Sun is officially making waves with their brand new single and music video “Holding On To You,” (directed by David O’Donohue, who has worked with popular artists such as LANY, COIN, Sasha Sloan and Russell Dickerson) the debut release from their forthcoming album Shuffle.
The song, written from the perspective of losing a loved one close to you, tells the heartbreaking story of what it would look like and what you would say if it was your last chance to speak to that person. The band chose their song to be the lead single off Shuffle (which will be released in two parts), as it conveys who they are sonically – a band that bends the line of a genre and is country, alternative, pop and rock all in one.
Beyond The Sun is made up of three tight-knit brothers – Colin (lead vocals), Phil (lead guitar) and Dalton (drums) – who grew up just outside of Toronto. Beyond the Sun just released their newest track “STOP,” which is sure to be a head-bobbing summer anthem.
“STOP is a letter to all the fake people in your life,” lead vocalist Colin Radu said in the press release announcing the single. “We were at this point in our lives that, for whatever reason, we were reconnecting with people we have nothing in common with anymore and forcing friendships. Just because you’re still ‘connected’ on Facebook or Instagram doesn’t mean you care about each other anymore.”
The trio of brothers hailing from Canada have dubbed the genre of music they create as “shuffle”, since the songs blend and cross over multiple styles of music. “STOP” definitely gives me some country, pop and even a little EDM vibes. The band has said that the single is a musical fusion of inspirations like Michael Jackson, Bleachers and mansionz.
Regardless of which style of music you classify it as, “STOP” is wildly addictive. I’ve been listening to it on repeat since it came out and I know that trend is going to continue through the summer. - Talk Nerdy With Us
Today's country music has been transformed, as the influence of hip-hop, rap, pop, and even EDM have become the new mainstream of popular music around the globe, which has now penetrated this All-American institution of music. Now, a young Canadian band of actual brothers, Beyond the Sun are breaking down more barriers with their brand of “shuffle-mode” style of country music and a new generation of music fans are taking notice of one Nashville's most innovative bands.

Nashville’s newest trio, a Canadian band of brothers better known as Beyond the Sun, is celebrating the release of their debut country single, “Cruisin’ Round Town.” The head-bobbing summer anthem, which recounts carefree drives and small town love, is available now on all digital platforms.
Deemed “super tuneful and wildly addictive” by Music Row Magazine’s Robert K. Oermann, the track (which was co-written by the brothers: Phil, Colin and Dalton Radu) is already receiving country radio airplay.
The bandmates celebrated their release week with an appearance on the NASH FM morning show “Ty, Kelly and Chuck” for the popular “10 Minute Tune” segment Thursday, 6/15.
If you missed the segment, you can watch a video of Beyond the Sun’s performance here.
“We’re so excited to finally release this new music. ‘Cruisin’ Round Town’ was inspired by summer drives in our hometown,” remarks frontman Colin. “There’s nothing like jumping in the Jeep and listening to music with the ones you love after long tour runs on the road.”
“The bro’s have recently moved to Music City,” writes Music Row Magazine. “If the rest of their songs are this good, roll out a great big welcome mat.”
While the buzzworthy band may be new to the country scene, they are far from strangers to the musical spotlight. Beyond the Sun’s achievements in the pop world include headlining Wild Summer Festival in Puerto Rico, their debut single (“My Kind of Crazy”) reaching no. 12 on Sirius XM’s 20 on 20 and cracking into the top 100 of the Media Base chart in 2013. Now, after years of touring both the U.S. and Canada, the brothers have decided to re-focus their music to incorporate the gamut of country and rock influences they were raised on, like Billy Currington, Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen and Lynyrd Skynyrd. - The Country Note
Canadian trio, Beyond the Sun, shares their excitement over the release of their debut country single “Cruisin’ Round Town.” They talk about their plans for 2017 and who they are dying to work with! While the Canadian bred band may be new to the country world, given their talent and confidence, it’s not a question of “if,” it’s more a question of “how soon” they will break through the country music scene. Check out our interview with the three tight-knit brothers, singer Colin, guitarist Phil, and drummer Dalton Radu below!
Good Afternoon! Thank you so much for talking with Battered and Brewed! Talk to us about your debut country single “Cruisin’ Round Town.”
Colin-“Cruisin’ Round Town” was one of the songs that was written very quickly. Pretty much the whole thing was finished in 15 mins. It’s a love song about driving through the back roads of your hometown with the one you love. We’re extremely proud of it and we’re happy to finally share it with everyone....... - Battered and Brewed
Think back to your first ipod/iphone. Think about all of your music you had and the times you would just hit shuffle to see what comes up. For a lot of us, this was how we developed our musical taste. We didn’t stick to one genre for an entire setting, hardly ever. Some of my fondest memories of high school were driving around blaring All Time Low, T-Pain, and Dashboard.
This idea and concept of hitting “shuffle” brings us to introducing you to the Canadian Trio, Beyond The Sun. Comprised of brothers Colin (vocals), Phil (guitar), and Dalton (drummer) Radu, the trio may be new to the Nashville scene but they are no strangers to the music industry. Starting back in 2005 in Ontario, the trio began writing and performing together. I spoke with Phil and Colin about the band and what’s to come.
Wade: As brothers, how do you guys build your songs together?
Phil: 9 times out of 10 Colin has a chorus or lyric idea as a jump off point. I’ll start building lyrics, and then we give it to Dalton to take it across the finish line.
Colin: We never sit on songs. If we struggle with it from the get go we scrap it. We have about 40 songs ready that we would release as singles. We like it or we don’t. We write in batches of 11. Basically like a play list. However those batches go is up to the songs we’re making at that time.
Wade: I originally listened to “Little Kingdom”, how do you feel about that EP 3 years later?
Colin: Yea man, our debut album is called “Shuffle”, and 3 of the 15 songs come from that EP. That was the first moment of like yea, we did that. We still close our shows with the title track from that EP. We have a totally different look at it. We released it and it got us a headlining spot at a Puerto Rico festival.
Phil: We write songs for how it would sound in MetLife Stadium, Madison Square Garden, and places like that. 2015 was hard because we really only wrote one song the entire year.
Wade: So what sparked the thought of venturing into country after alternative and pop?
Phil: Everyone had jobs. Bartender, landscaper, everything a musician could be.
Colin: it was 2016 and we were doing landscaping. You’re up early, tired, and at 5am I wanted to listen to Country driving into work. I came up with a title, “Country Man’s Hands” and I was like, that screams Country.
Phil: Our parents have always worked hard for us.
Colin: My dad came to me and was like, this is the first time I don’t know if you guys are going to make it. We had a band meeting that night, got our grievances out.
Phil: That’s we decided to not have any barriers and write what we want. If it was good, we would explore it.
Wade: You’ve used the term “Shuffle”, how did that come about?
Colin: We would be writing songs for our batches and it would be like 3 pop, 3 rock, 4 country, and maybe ‘Little Kingdom’ style.
When I go to my ipod I hit shuffle. We want other artists to do what we’re doing.
Phil: We would love for Itunes to release it under the “Shuffle” genre.
Colin: Today’s Country Artists are like 90’s Pop Bands, but it’s awesome. We’re writing things that don’t fit within a barrier. We’re 4 different things at once.
Wade: How has the music community here responded to that style?
Phil: Surprisingly everyone has been really accepting of it. I think because our household growing up liked what was popular, regardless of genre, we have a little bit of everything for everyone.
Wade: If you had to add anyone to your band from Canada who would it be?
Phil and Colin: Drake. Adding that rap element. Also, just he’s Drake.
Colin: I remember when we found out Drake was releasing a Hip-Hop album. None of us thought it was going to be anything like it was or what he’s become. We were closet fans at first.
Wade: Who else are you guys into?
Phil: I’m really into Lorde, anything that Jack Antonoff touches I’m into, also Ryan Tedder.
Colin: This latest Ed Sheeran album is cover to cover what I’m into. Chris Stapleton too.
Wade: You mentioned this festival in Puerto Rico, tell us a little more about that experience.
Colin: So we got invited to play this “Wild Summer” festival. We flew down thinking we were just a support act. When we got on site they took us to this tent with green rooms set up. Slowly, as we were walking past these makeshift green rooms they take us to ours and we have an air-conditioned pimped out room. That’s when we realized we weren’t the supporters, we were the headliners.
Phil: So the band before us is playing and one of the security guards warned us that some fans were freaking out knowing we were backstage. So I ran off to the side of the stage just to see what would happen. It was like a scene out of World War Z. Quickly security grabbed me and I went backstage to tell them to try it. By the time we took the stage the crowd was ready for us.
Wade: Lastly, what do our readers need to look for from Beyond The Sun the rest of 2017?
Colin and Phil: Our two newest singles just released so be looking for visuals with those. We have 2-3 other tracks we are looking to release this year in preparation for the debut album next year. Also just playing these songs live, it’s time to see how people react to it in a live setting.

Además de Beyond The Sun, El Hot Evolution presentará a Kat Dahlia, Cris Wallace y Sonus.

Recently I had the chance to listen to some of his band’s latest release. I knew it would be good, but I was still floored by the songs, production, talent and focus. Beyond The Sun is a winner in my opinion!” Jon Finn, Professor, Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA

U.S. Radio Stations Debut Singles from Beyond the Sun's EP
Destin FL (PRWEB) January 16, 2013
Brother Pop Rock Trio, Beyond the Sun (BTS), announced today the success of their continuing Hard Rock Café tour. Having already performed at the legendary Hard Rock Cafés in Chicago, IL; Gatlinburg, TN; and Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, PA, BTS gains notable interest from a growing fan base and reach a milestone of 100,000 views on their video “My Kind of Crazy”. While on tour, Beyond the Sun has also received airtime on several radio stations throughout the U.S. including 96.1 WKZQ Myrtle Beach S.C., 101.1 WRIF Detroit, KWTF Radio in CA ,HGR in NJ and (Top 40) WXZO - The Planet in Burlington VT.
Beginning at the ages of 7, 9 and 12, the brothers of Beyond the Sun, Colin, Dalton and Phil Radu, were winning honors and performing at such notable venues as Canadian Music Week, the Ricoh Coliseum and the Rogers Centre in Toronto. More than a decade later, the three have honed their individual capabilities and perfected the collective and distinctive sound of BTS. And the entire family is behind the comprehensive effort – nurturing and launching Beyond the Sun with the ultimate goal to create, produce and deliver great music to a connected audience.
BTS’s background and commitment to music has resulted in the polished sound of their new EP. The dynamic and contagious energy of the song “My Kind of Crazy” is followed up with four more solid tracks on their EP. Beyond the Sun’s cohesive and professional sound can, in part, be attributed to producer Rick Beato and other expert mentors who have assisted the brothers in developing and evolving their craft. Each song on the EP highlights the artistry and skills of the individual band members, as well as their strength as unified players.
BTS has a sound that’s fresh, exciting and relevant to an audience their age but also appeals to a younger or more mature audience. With a roster of tunes that are catchy and upbeat, listeners find themselves singing along with songs that they’ve never heard before. Their strong writing skills are reflected in tracks like “Not for Me” with content that people can easily relate to. “Shine On”, a contemplative and soulful track that was co-written with Brad Stella (2012 CCMA award-winning music star from the duo, “The Stellas”), has the potential to move and inspire a person of any age.
And while each member of the band is interested in every aspect of production and the business of music, they all favor the act of performing… and it shows. “We leave everything we have up there. No regrets.” says Colin, lead singer and the youngest member of BTS. The band, as a whole, has a unique and self-assured performance style, each expressing his individual identity while functioning as an integral member of the group. Colin’s lyrical vocals are complemented by Phil’s skilled guitar playing while Dalton keeps the beat holding it all together in the pocket.
Off stage, Beyond the Sun uses social media channels to build on the relationships that they develop with their followers. Their active Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Facebook accounts keeps their fan base interested and involved. Their philosophy in connecting with their audience is to reveal a little about themselves, listen to comments and feedback, be responsive and follow-back. With over 29,000 followers on Instagram, it’s working for them.
The last stop on their successful Hard Rock Café Tour will be in Destin, FL. This all-age venue is sure to attract a new and growing fan base. Come for dinner and stay for the show. Check Beyond the Sun’s website for details and Tumblr to follow their tour blogs or for more information about the band: http://www.beyondthesunmusic.com. With a Top 40 hit, over 100,000 YouTube hits on their latest single and riding out their first US tour with Hard Rock Café, the Ontario trio are already touching the sky with their rock/pop magic.
Beyond The Sun was Set up by the Radu brothers, Phil (lead guitar), Dalton (drums) and Colin (vocals and rhythm guitar), they all discovered their musical abilities at a young age. They formed their first 4-piece band, ‘Hidden Echo’, in 2003 at the tender ages of 12, 9, and 7. With Phil on guitar, Dalton on drums, Colin on bass alongside their former lead vocalist, the band were the youngest act in history to play in the industry showcase at the Canadian Music Week in 2004 and were the youngest finalists ever of the 97.7 Htz FM Rock Search. They had already toured summer camps in New York and New Jersey, recorded CD’s and had numerous battle of the bands title’s under their belts by 2005.
The end of 2005 saw the band split ways with their lead vocalist and reform as the 3-piece ‘Beyond the Sun’ with Colin taking over lead vocals. They continued to write and by December 2009 they had released their music video for the single ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ and performed at the Air Canada Centre for the Toronto Rock Lacrosse half time show in February 2010. Through their talent and success, the band has developed many partnerships with big names in the industry such as Eric Bass of Shinedown and Boys like Girls producer Rick Beato.
So how have this band made such ground work with an enormous level of potential so young? “By working hard, educating ourselves...and a lot of dedication” Says drummer Dalton Radu. No kidding. As well as their plentiful accomplishment, Colin has been taking singing lessons since turning 9 and has recently been studying at the Ken Tamplin vocal academy in Los Angeles. Dalton has been studying with drum technician Danny Brown since 2005 and is also currently studying music production on the phenomenal Berklee College of Music’s online course programme. Also, Phil has been studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA as a song writing major since autumn 2010.
The band’s knowledge and professionalism definitely comes across in their latest EP and BEAT100 video, titled as the first single ‘My Kind of Crazy’. The harmonies of the single it’s self grab you by the ears, making the replay button irresistible. Their hard work reflects well on this record, with a mature sound beyond their years. With catchy hooks you can along to in the first play, universal lyrics and carefully crafted harmony and instrumental lines this band could go far and easily tour with their idols The Fray and Train.
So what’s next for the band? “This January, we’re going to be represented by Jan Cooper of Pump Records (Vancouver, Canada) at [the music industry conference] Midem in Cannes, France”. Using BEAT100 as their starting point, it looks like we’re in for a European takeover from the boys within the next year! Stay tuned.

“Colin Radu is an extraordinary up-and-coming singer/songwriter. With his band Beyond The Sun, Colin displays the soulful influences of singers, from Gavin DeGraw, to Ryan Tedder combined with the timelessness of Pat Monahan (Train). He and his band are a force to be reckoned with.”

“I’ve known Phil Radu for a couple of years, having had him as a student at Berklee in a few different classes. He’s always done really well. Recently I had the chance to listen to some of his band’s latest release. I knew it would be good, but I was still floored by the songs, production, talent and focus. He and his brothers seem to follow a very simple formula: Write great songs; play and sing them really well. Beyond The Sun is a winner in my opinion!”

The fresh, energetic and heartfelt music of Beyond The Sun celebrates the Toronto/Boston based band’s belief that lyrics and melodies can tell an on-going, universal story and help human beings connect powerfully through their many diverse experiences. Through catchy yet personal tunes that sparkle with infinite layers of harmony, guitarist Phil, lead vocalist Colin and drummer Dalton unleash tunes that resonate personally with their audiences. Growing up in an environment where creativity, the arts and humor were equally supported, they immersed themselves in many styles of music, from pop, rock and folk, to rap and hip hop at an early age and found limitless ways to make music from their toys and other objects they discovered in the world. After forming Beyond The Sun, the trio immediately garnered the attention of audiences throughout its home country and elsewhere. Along with maintaining an ambitious schedule of live shows, each member continues to fine-tune his proficiency at his instrument, with two members formally studying at the prestigious Berklee College of Music.
Beyond The Sun kicked off their EP release tour at the Mod Club in Toronto ON on Saturday Nov. 3rd. Other tour dates have included Bowmanville, ON Santa Claus Parade and the Holiday Music Festival at Mall of America in Bloomington MN. They have a few local hometown performances this weekend and will begin the new year with a US multi- state Hard Rock Cafe Tour beginning this January in Chicago, IL.

OSHAWA -- The members all have soup nicknames and, when you read the biographies on Oshawa band Stone Soup's website, it gets even crazier.
Multi-instrumentalist Martin Bonnie (Martin "Beef Barley" Soup), it states, was born in Area 51 and graduated from Roswell High School, class of '47. Huh? No doubt Stone Soup likes to have a good time. And they're organizing a big one for Aug. 11 at the Oshawa Armoury.
The band is hosting Bands For Brothers in Arms, a full day and night of music complete with a barbecue, door prizes and raffles. It's a benefit concert for Wounded Warriors, a non-profit group that helps Canadian Forces members who have been wounded or injured since 1990 while serving Canada.
As you might have guessed, it's a cause near and dear to the band.
"Our bass player, Mark, did a couple of tours in Afghanistan and works for the Wounded Warriors' fund," Bonnie says. "He's still an active member of the Ontario Regiment."
The Courtice resident joined Stone Soup about a year ago and notes the band (the other members live in Oshawa) doesn't play many paying gigs, preferring to play in aid of charities.
"We've all got regular jobs," he says. "We'd rather play for a good cause than for bucks."
The music starts at noon and ends around 1 a.m., divided into afternoon and evening shows. The line-up features a variety of music styles, including rock, folk rock, pop, r and b and soul. The performers include guitarist Joe Poirier, an Ajax native with several albums under his belt, Rock and Roll Cowboys, a duo with one member from Uxbridge, Whitby's Tamin' Thunder, a number of Oshawa bands, including Time Well Wasted and V.M. Blues, and bands from Oakville, Toronto and Barrie. Finishing up the day and night of music is Toronto's Easy Aces, billed as Toronto's biggest party band.
Bonnie said it didn't take any coaxing to get the bands on board for the event.
"For the most part they're friends and if not, they're friends of friends," he says. "Most of them responded pretty quick. I think we filled 10 or 11 spots in 48 hours."
"They're all playing for free. They're getting some food and some drinks and maybe some gas money, but that's it."
Prizes and volunteers are still being sought and if you can help out, e-mail Bonnie at martinbonnie@hotmail.com or call him at 905-448-0323.
Tickets are $15 for an all-day pass or $10 for a half-day pass (noon to 6 p.m. or 6 p.m. to close).
For tickets, call or e-mail Bonnie or bandsforbrothersinarms@gmail.com. You can also get tickets at the event website, bandsforbrothersinarms.org.
"If it's a success this year, we plan on doing it again next year," Bonnie says.

The group of boys, ranging from ages seven to 12, recently won the Yamaha Battle of the Bands at the Opera House in Toronto and won $1,000 of Yamaha gear. They have also recorded a three-song demo CD, available at CD Plus in the Oshawa Centre for $5.
The band will play at the Reverb in Toronto on March 5 at 8 p.m. and will open at Raxx in Brampton March 6th. On March 20, Hidden Echo competes in Bandwarz at Le Skratch, Midtown Mall, in Oshawa. The band also has a Web site, www.hiddenecho.com, where you can hear a sample of new songs and find out more about the boys. The band members are Taylor O'Meara, 12, lead singer and guitar, Phillip Radu, 12, lead guitar and backup vocals, drummer Dalton Radu, nine, and Colin Radu, seven, bass. The boys also write their own songs.

Hidden Echo had nothing to hide. The Clarington band, whose members are 12, nine and seven years old, showed they can play with the rest at Bandwarz 2004, on Saturday, March 20, at Le Skratch.
Already the winner of three battle-of-the-bands contests in the past year, Hidden Echo qualified for the Bandwarz 2004 final showcase, which will be held at Le Skratch Billiard Bar and Grill on Saturday, April 17.
The Bandwarz 2004 finalists are SKrAtch3 from Port Hope, Whitby-Ajax band Recall, the Agnostics from Bowmanville, Cobourg and Port Hope, Oshawa’s Torsion and R.P.O., from Oshawa and Ajax, Newcastle’s One Second 2 Late and Hidden Echo, from Clarington. One more band will be added this weekend.

Junior rockers Hidden Echo at Raxx Saturday

MIKE BEGGS
Returning to Raxx tomorrow night to open for Jack, the Clarington band Hidden Echo is on a bit of a roll.
They've won two Battle of the Bands contests in the past year and just last night they played a featured gig at Toronto's Reverb Tavern, during the vaunted Canadian Music Week (CMW) festival.
Not bad for a band whose eldest members are 12.
What's more, that latter appearance made them the youngest band ever to play CMW.
"Oh, it's amazing. We're so blown away," said lead guitarist Phillip Radu, 12. He's joined by his brothers Dalton, 9, on drums and Colin, 7, on bass, plus good friend Taylor O'Meara, 12, on lead vocals and guitar.
In turn, a lot of music fans-- and older bands-- are being blown away.
Last fall, they claimed the Supernova.com Battle of the Bands competition at Toronto's Opera House in front of 900 people.
"We love (playing live)," Phillip said. "When the crowd gives off so much energy, you want to give it back to them."
Reflecting influences like Nickelback, and Creed, their three-song demo CD proves these guys are proficient on their instruments, not just some kind of boy band.
They came together in February of 2002, when Taylor and Phillip struck up a friendship while studying at the same Oshawa music school.
By May 2003, the band was fully assembled and ready to gig.
Ironically, none of their parents are musical.
The group gives full credit to their "band teacher" Mark Kitchen, who still gives each member lessons at the Radu household, and also fine-tunes their recordings, as producer.
"It's loud here," said mom, Lisa Radu, "They practise every day."
Rock stardom may have to wait. But it's definitely fun for them.
"We hope (Canadian Music Week) goes fine, and then go as far as we can," Phillip said. "We hope we can get signed and do a full CD."
They will play a 30 minute set of 7 songs, including three covers-- Led Zeppelin's Rock 'n Roll, AC/DC's You Shook Me All Night Long and Nickelback's Some Day.
Hidden Echo hits stage at 9:45 p.m. at Raxx Bar and Grill, 370 Main St. N.

Young Clarington band wins Bandwarz spot
Mar 26, 2004
DURHAM - Hidden Echo showed off its abilities at Bandwarz 2004 and won a spot in next month's finals.
The young band from Clarington, with members ages 12, 9 and 7, were the winners in the March 20 segment of the Bandwarz competition. Already winners of three battle-of-the-band contests in the last year, Hidden Echo will compete in the April 17 finals at Le Skratch Billiard Bar and Grill.
The young musicians will join SKrAtch3 from Port Hope, the Whitby-Ajax band Recall, the Agnostics from Bowmanville, Cobourg and Port Hope, Oshawa's Torsion, and R.P.O. from Oshawa and Ajax and Newcastle's One Second 2 Late in the showcase.
The final band will be added this weekend. Competing for the last spot will be Back Against The Wall, Green Division, Mercy Heights, One Cross, The Difference and To Have Control.
In the finals, the bands will compete for the title of champion and perform for music industry representatives and booking agents. The final showcase will feature emcee Farley Flex, from 'Canadian Idol,' and will be taped for broadcast on Rogers Television.
The Bandwarz 2004 champion will receive $1,000 in cash, a prize package from Alcatraz Skates, recording time at Mad Hermit Studios to complete a three-song demo package produced by Wellcraft Music and will be part of a showcase at North By Northeast Music Festival and Conference (NXNE) and appear on the Bandwarz 2004 show broadcast on Rogers Television.
The weekly all-ages concerts are held at Le Skratch, 200 John St. W. in the Midtown Mall and start at 5:30 p.m., with a final band taking the stage at 8:30 p.m. Tickets cost $8 in advance, available at Alcatraz Skates, and $10 at the door on the day of the show. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.

Young rockers camping it up in United States
Aug 11, 2005
By Christy Chase
More from this author
DURHAM -- Four young Clarington residents are spending part of their summer at camp this month.
But Taylor O'Meara, 13, and the Radu brothers, Phil, 13, Colin, 9 this month, and Dalton, 11, aren't campers, they are entertaining at six summer camps for young people, ages five to 16, in New York and New Jersey. The members of Hidden Echo, believed to be Canada's youngest rock band, are taking part in Camplified Summer Tour 2005, which provides summer camp entertainment for kids.
And when they come back, they will open for Canadian Idol season two winner Kalan Porter at a festival in Gananoque. After that, school starts and the band will be releasing its third CD, with four or five new songs, later this fall. They'll play at the Toronto Argos tailgate party Oct. 10.
It's been a busy two years since Hidden Echo was formed in 2003, one year after meeting at a music school in Oshawa. The boys have released two CDs, played countless gigs throughout southern Ontario, won four Battle of the Bands competitions, kept writing their own songs and kept up their school work. They play original works and cover songs.
"It's awesome," said Phillip, going into Grade 9 at Clarington Central Secondary School in Bowmanville. "We have a lot of fun."
He is lead guitar and backing vocals.
"It's amazing," agreed Taylor, 13, going into Grade 9 at Holy Trinity Secondary School in Courtice. "Being able to do it all at such a young age is great."
Taylor plays guitar and does vocals.
Dalton, who is entering Grade 6 at Dr. Ross Tilley Public School, in Bowmanville, said he's enjoying the band but knows there is something more important.
"School work comes first," he said. "We come home, do our homework and then it's time for the band."
Dalton plays drums, with private lessons from Pat Carrano.
The youngest member, Colin, will be in Grade 4 this year at Dr. Tilley school. Six years old when the band started, he plays bass.
"It's cool," he said of Hidden Echo's success.
Hidden Echo's 2 current CDs are available at CD Plus in the Oshawa Centre or online at www.hiddenecho.com.

Under-agers rock the Reverb
Youngsters from Clarington, Ont.,
plays Music Week with groups twice their age
By Sarah Rogers
"Are you ready for some rock n’ roll?” shouts Phil Radu, leading his band Hidden Echo into a Led Zeppelin cover at the Reverb.
Sure, the band is one of thousands to have rocked the stage at theToronto nightclub, but none of the members of this four-piece outfit from Clarington, Ont. are even old enough to be here. Taylor O’Meara, 12, and the Radu brothers Phil, 12, Dalton, 9, and Colin, 7 make up the one of the youngest bands ever assembled. Hidden Echo played a show March 5 as part of Canadian Music week, a three-day festival showcasing independent music around the city.
The performance produced all the energy of a good rock n’ roll show with heavy guitar riffs and an enthusiastic crowd. Hidden Echo’s most obvious fan, the Radu’s grandmother Dianne Boivin, danced until the end of the band’s half-hour set.
“I don’t miss any of their shows,” Boivin confessed. “I’m very proud of them.”
Hidden Echo just finished recording its first demo of original songs in a Toronto studio. Members say their sound is influenced by groups like Creed and Nickelback. The band has played and won several competitions, and doesn’t seem fazed about playing against musicians twice their age.
“We’ve done it before so we’re getting used to it now,” said Taylor, the lead vocalist. “I think it’s fun, and you can get ideas from other bands.”
Practice makes perfect
Surprisingly, none of the boys came from musical families. Lisa Radu says her boys are incredibly talented and self-driven. Hidden Echo practices every day of the week in the Radus’ basement, and still finds time for homework and Playstation.
“We have seven gigs coming up in March, so we really have to work hard,” Phil said.
Taylor and Phil met at a music school they both attended in Oshawa. With help from one of their music teachers, they joined forces with the other Radu brothers in 2002 to form Hidden Echo and create a sound they describe as “awesome.”
Becoming role models
The band seems to take its growing success in stride, but enjoys the attention it receives from fans. The boys are beginning to see themselves as role models for other aspiring young musicians.
“A couple of kids have told us they take guitar lessons because of us,” Phil said, “and that’s cool.”
Taylor says that the band is popular with girls wherever they play, but seven-year-old Colin is the only band member to admit having a girlfriend.
“He just broke up with one, but he has one more left,” Taylor said.
You can visit www.hiddenecho.com to hear the recording of the band or to check out their upcoming shows.

Bio
A band born of the iPod generation — they write music the way they grew up listening to it. Best described as “Shuffle”, the band’s catalogue covers a lot of sonic ground. What started as living room concerts for their parents at the ages of 6, 8 and 11 would lead to over a decade later, hearing themselves on Sirius XM radio and performing for a 7,000 person sold-out crowd at Puerto Rico’s Wild Summer Festival.
Made up of three tight-knit brothers, singer Colin, guitarist Phil and drummer Dalton Radu grew up just outside Toronto, Ontario. With traces of their influences threaded into each one of their songs, their audience appeal reaches far beyond one specific genre. Think danceable pop beats meet small-town songwriting; Coldplay meets Dan + Shay. Couple their music with room-filling rock attitudes and an on-stage chemistry that comes only from growing up under the same roof, and you get Beyond the Sun.
Phil honed his songwriting craft and was accepted to his dream school, Berklee College of Music in Boston, while Dalton became the group’s production expert and Colin emerged as the lead vocalist. Lyrics emailed back and forthand countless days in the studio when Phil was home forholidays led to the group’s debut projects, two EPs: My Kind of Crazy and Little Kingdom. Their debut single and music video, “My Kind of Crazy,” garnered over 150,000 views on YouTube, reached no. 12 on Sirius XM’s 20 on 20 and even cracked the top 100 on the Media Base chart in 2013. Next, the band embarked on an international tourwhich included stops at Hard Rock Cafés all over the U.S., the Air Canada Center and the Coliseo de Puerto Rico. Halting only for a brief period to build more material for projects. Beyond the Sun has emerged as a “must watch” act on the world music scene even garnering profiles on Ryan Seacrest’s AXS network and multiple appearances on the nationally syndicated Cumulus morning show Ty, Kelly & Chuck.
On October 25th the band released the first half of their debut record "Shuffle, Pt. 1", via Level, preceded by the music video for the lead single "Holding On To You" directed by David O’Donohue (Coin, LANY). Stream the new album now on Spotify & Apple Music.
