Better Weather Seasons 2 Review: It Just Might be Better than Sliced Bread

Now, we all know sliced bread is mankind’s greatest invention since… C’mon now, I’m not actually going to talk about sliced bread. I got the privilege of reviewing the new Seasons Two EP by Better Weather, and I’ve got to say – it’s really good. I wasn’t kidding, there’s a compelling argument that it could beat out bread.

Seasons Two, released May 11th, is the second EP by up-and-coming Windsor locals Better Weather. Featuring four great tracks for your auditory enjoyment, the EP clocks in around 15 minutes. Seasons Two is smooth and brisk, with enough variation to keep you interested (the music never ends up getting stale). For an EP with four tracks, Seasons Two gives you a surprising amount of selection, from the indie/psychedelic foundations of “Boy with a Golden Voice” to the rock/electronica combination of sounds in “Tiger Lily Eyes”. Hands down, my favourite track on the EP has to be “Rye and Cocaine”, a touching acoustic-inspired serenade that packs a rhythmic punch just past the halfway point. Seasons Two is short and sweet, but there is no way it’s lacking in sound or innovation.

There’s no room for the disk to get stale as every song feels fresh and original while you cycle through. If you’re looking for easy-listening or a just a good sampling of local psychedelic sound, Better Weather Seasons Two is a guaranteed 5$ well-spent.
