“More than anything else, Banjo Bones tells stories, and they’re meaty. Cowboy Dreams’ opener, “Tell Him Why,” seems like a jaunty number at first, but it doubles as a sharp critique of the United States’ immigration policies. Another, “The Rodeo Clown,” draws a parallel between the life of a rodeo clown and a struggling musician, punctuated by moody guitar. Certainly, Espada chose Banjo Bones’ tagline of “The Dark Side of Americana” for a reason, but Cowboy Dreams does offer rare uplifting moments in the title track.” - Sacramento News & Review
“These songs are an infusion of blues, folk, and a touch of country and a whiff of home-made whiskey.” - Blues Matters - February/March 2016
“In these songs you will find disgruntled employees, forgotten veterans, dreamers that pay hefty price for dreaming… all characters that have been somehow impacted by the systems and societies we live in…” - Nick Baldrian, Fireworks Magazine, Issue 75 Jul-Sep 2016
If you get a chance to catch a performance of Banjo Bones go for it - he is a true original and a musician who clearly owns all aspects of his craft. - Isleton Journal, March 2019

Bio
Under the tagline “the dark side of Americana,” Banjo Bones sings themes of the present in a voice of the past, always staying true to the dark aesthetic concept. With lyrical content that spans the introspective to the esoteric, Banjo Bones combines elements of roots music into a genre defying style that borrows in equal portions from rock, blues, country, jazz, and folk. Whiskey infused philosopher, frustrated poet, and wannabe cowboy, Banjo Bones takes listeners on a journey filled with the musical landscape equivalent to Death Valley, as told by a pallet of characters that would be perfectly at home in a Fante or Bukowski book.
While Banjo Bones takes pride in forging his own path, he is flexible in format (may perform as solo, duo or full band), and can adapt the set to different vibes (from stomping honky tonk to mellow singer-songwriter) to better fit the bill you seek to book.
