No, Apache Trails isn't the name of a rustic new IPA from Dogfish Head. It’s a foot-stompin’ Americana act based out of Wilmington, which will invade the beach Friday night armed with special guests. The free show kicks off at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats (320 Rehoboth Ave., Rehbooth Beach) starting at 10 p.m.Frontman Jason Webb, guitarist James Dukenfield and drummer Jeremy Worthington will be joined by Montana Wildaxe bassist Tony Cappella and guitarist Devin Zito, who previously played with Webb in the raucous Wilmington blues/rock act The Hold-Up.
The band is headed into the studio next month to record its first full-length album, which is expected to be released in the spring. The act’s 2014 debut self-titled EP can be heard here.Contact Ryan Cormier of The News Journal at rcormier@delawareonline.com or (302) 324-2863. We might more accurately call Apache Trails alt country rather than folk. But you know what I really wanted them on this list and they have elements of folk in them, so here they are! IF you like gritty lead vocals, you simply HAVE to give these fellas a spin. There’s a bit of blues, a bit of country, and a whole lot of shit-kickin’ attitude. At the beginning of “Hope at the Well” you hear a bit of a buzz coming from the amp; that’s pretty much the best description of this album ever. They get the amps kickin’ and the bass will make your hair stand on end. This is an exciting album for people who like high-energy Americana/folk in the vein of Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats. - Ear to the Ground Music
A new soulful Wilmington-based musical collective that mixes folk, blues and country is ready to show everyone what it's been up to.
Apache Trails, which has been performing shows in the area over the past year or so, will unveil its self-titled debut album upstairs at World Cafe Live at the Queen (500 N. Market St., Wilmington) on Friday at 8 p.m.
The act is led by singer/songwriter Jason Webb, who writes all the songs. Matt Messatzzia (bass), James Dukenfield (banjo) and Jeremy Worthington (drums) fill out the band's core
Both the album and release show boast an impressive line-up of local musical guests.
Performers from bands like The Bullets, The Splashing Pearls, New Sweden, Mad-Sweet Pangs, The Hold-Up, The Future Unwritten, Old Baltimore Speedway, The Sin City Band and Badmobile can all be heard on the seven-track album. Nearly all will reconvene and perform with Apache Trails at Friday night's CD release show.
Think of it as an Americana hootenanny with some of the best local players coming together for a one-off super jam.

This fiery 4-piece promises a rowdy, unbridled and all together good time that'll leave the soles of your feet singing a tune of their own. Featuring a thunderous double-bass slapping alongside, soulful lead guitar, a freight-train rhythm, and a howling lead vocal all delivered in a style that defies pigeonholing but might be described as a rootsy amalgam of folk, country, blues and whiskey.
Started in 2014, Apache Trails is helmed by Singer-Songwriter Jason Webb and backed by the likes of Matthew Messatzzia on Bass, James Dukenfield on Lead Guitar and Jeremy Worthington on Drums.
Along with the release of their debut EP in 2015 at World Cafe Live's, Queen Theater in Delaware the group had the privilege to be featured among artists in the NPR Music hosted “Tiny Desk” Contest. For the contest the group released a video performing their first single “Cricket in a Music box” live from a Chadds Ford Goodwill. In the video the group is seen bringing their music into the world with full force as they enter the famous thrift store, instruments in hand, and proceed to arrange a performance space in the middle of the room. The group then begins to belt their heartfelt ballad to a quickly gathering crowd of curious bystanders.
Apache Trail's sound and writing pulls strong influence from traditional Folk, Americana, and Roots music. However, it's their high energy, raw emotion, and dedication to their craft that really brings this group to light.
They are proud members of the Philadelphia Folksong Society, “Philadelphia Music Co-Op" and have had the wonderful opportunity to tour over 30 stages performing throughout Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York with no intention of stopping there.
