Bio
Alli Walker is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based out of Hamilton, Ontario. She moved to the big city with one suitcase, a guitar, and no where to live, from Prince Edward Island when she was 19 years old. Now, hundreds of gigs and songs written later, she is currently working with Grammy Award Winning Producer Earl Cohen, of Lady Gaga, and is soon looking forward to sharing her new material with the world. On top of being a singer, you will see Alli modelling in campaigns, commercials, and on billboards for companies such as Nike, Shoppers Drug Mart, Marks WorkWarehouse, OGX Hair, and many more, recently signing with Plutino Models in Toronto in late 2017.
Growing up in Summerside, Alli did it all — well. She played drums, guitar, bass and piano; step-danced and highland danced, but her real passion at the time was bagpiping. Her pipe band was Grade 3 North American Champions and fourth in the world at the World Pipe Band Championship in Glasgow, Scotland. She wasn’t a singer, except by herself when her parents left the house.
“I had never sung a note in my life in public until I tried out for my high school musical [Footloose] just for fun and ended up getting the lead female role,” Alli says. “That sparked my singing bug and I took lessons so I could get into university that September in the music program.” She got in, but after a year of studying classical voice at the University of PEI, she found she didn’t enjoy it. She spent the summer in a dinner theatre show playing drums, guitar, bass, acting, and singing, then moved to Toronto in September, 2009 “to chase the dream,” as she puts it.
Within a week of being in Toronto, Alli successfully auditioned to be a MuchMusic VJ. Although she made it to second place in the competition, she opted to work on her music instead. While at a Rascal Flatts concert, she met her future band mate, songwriting partner, and future husband, Eric Paul, an accomplished drummer (Big Sugar, Thornley, Hawksley Workman, Alannah Myles) and songwriter (The Trews’ “Tired of Waiting”) who started developing her songwriting and stage show. They went in a country only direction at first, later integrating everything from rock to pop, R&B to all the oldies. Now it's been almost seven years, and hundreds of performances later with 'The Little White Lies' band, a cover band with Eric, booked at bars, weddings, corporate events, and festivals
Between performing live she also spent these years writing hundreds of songs, and going to Nashville, Los Angeles and New York City to write with A-listers. Her co-written song 'Scotland' recorded by Nashville, TN based artist Jessie Lee Cates has been played on over 2,000 radio stations worldwide and hit Top 10 on the European charts. But it wasn't until she threw away all the 'songwriting rules', when she started finding her own voice. “When I stopped trying to fit in a mould and write songs that fit on radio, or sounded like everything else out there, was when I was able to find who I wanted to be as an artist” Alli says.
