Bio for Alison Reynolds
Alison Reynolds is a multi faceted musician. She plays cello both classically and pop/rock style. Her voice is huge and full of emotion and she plays and sings with an energy that can fill any room.
She began her career about a year after graduating from high school in Canada. Starting with musical partner Patricia Watson forming the duo, Watson and Reynolds. The ladies played 8 different instruments between them. Patricia played piano, guitar, and flute, Alison played guitar, cello, flute and mandolin. Their voices complimented each other and their harmonies were impeccable! For several years they toured Ontario drawing big crowds and gaining popularity. A highlight for Watson and Reynolds was opening for Gino Vanelli at the Ottawa Opera House. After meeting up with David James Bowen, they formed a trio called Mirth which gradually grew to a 5 piece band and produced an album called Mirth, First Born. Mirth toured all over Canada and were a mainstay in the festival circuit. While living in Canada, Alison did a bit of studio work playing cello on albums for CANO, David Essig and the CBC.
After around 12 years in Canada, Alison moved back to her home town of El Paso Texas where she continued to play in bands and pursue a music performance degree at UTEP. After her marriage to Michael Ferguson and the birth of 2 children, she took a break from the music business but returned to it several years later with the group La Cella Bella. She writes and arranges music (mostly pop songs) for La Cella Bella a cello quartet. They have 2 Cd's out, one called "Dreaming" that contains some cover songs and a few original pieces written by Alison. The other Cd is Christmas music. More information can be found at: www.lacellabella.com Alison has played in symphony orchestras in California, Texas and New Mexico but her love is in improvising cello lines for folk, rock and pop songs. She has played on several Cd's of local bands as well as Canada.
She has most recently returned to the singer songwriter side of music. She writes songs about life, love and social conscience. Her voice is full of passion and her lyrics ring true to the heart.
