Bio

A life-altering accident in the harrowing year that was 2020 almost led Alexandra King to be a quadriplegic, but this freckle-faced fighter refused to accept that fate and chose to power her way through to recovery and pursue her life-long passion - music. King almost lost it all. As she was surrounded by those hospital walls for weeks on end, she solidified her true life’s purpose of healing others through music and turning her inspiring experiences into a chapter of her story, rather than the end.

And she’s only just beginning.

The story of Irish-American singer-songwriter, Alexandra King, starts in Hudson Valley, NY. An only child born of two musical parents, they immediately bought her a piano when she was born in hopes she would play if she somehow couldn’t sing. “That would’ve been a true tragedy for my family and hometown” King laughs. However, her first stage appearance, at just one and a half years old, subsided any concerns as she brought the house down with a classic Irish Lullaby.

King always had the bug for performing and writing music. Since she was young, she’d perform at shows around the tri-state area, across the pond in Ireland at pubs and weddings, and she’d often give back to the community by singing at churches, hospitals, and nursing homes. When she wasn’t performing, she’d take her songwriting journal out to her favorite spots on her aunt and uncle’s sheep farm in the midlands of Ireland or the seaside shores near her grandparent’s cottage - guitar strapped to her back. Many evenings, her family would turn off the tv and have sessions filled with harmonies and storytelling - both of which still thread through King’s own music today.

Music has always been an integral part to who King is and how she was raised, even after her parents split up, but she ventured on other paths before her injury put life into perspective. After high school, she went to a few different colleges, traveled and studied abroad on numerous occasions, and then went to law school at St. John's University in NY. Throughout these scholastic years, King continued to perform as much as she could and couldn’t wait to be done with school to pursue music full time as she had always dreamed. “I got a full ride to law school and my parents and I made a deal - finish school then go to Nashville with our support. It sounded like a good plan until I almost lost the ability to chase my dream completely.”

In June of 2020, where a diving accident led to a broken neck and being completely paralyzed on the right side, King fought her way back to walking, playing guitar, and overall regaining her strength. It is an unprecedented recovery journey that created a monumental shift in King’s outlook on life. “It’s difficult to explain the transformation I underwent during that ‘fun’ year of 2020…and the urgency burning inside me to get down to Nashville as soon as possible and create more music because miraculously, I still somehow could.”King quickly finished law school and made her solo leap down to Nashville in 2022. Since her move, determined as ever, King jumped right into the music scene and began writing with numerous people in town, performing at writers rounds and gigs, signing with an artist development team, working within music management, and continuing to give back musically by volunteering and performing with the nonprofit Musicians on Call. Her singer-songwriter sound is sprinkled with her Irish culture, honest storytelling, and a cheeky charm.
