Alchemic

Alchemic is a progressive hard rock band originally from Lawrence, Kansas but is now based out of Kansas City, Kansas.  The band was formed in 2016 by guitarists Phil Lowry and Nathaniel Mayhew, bassist Jerrett Strube, and drummer Seth Persinger.  The band initially set out as an instrumental band, creating music that blends grunge rock with alternative and progressive metal.   In early 2017, after agreeing that their music should include lyrics, the band expanded to include vocalist Josh Petty. They existed as a band for some time before they gave themselves a name, having only chosen the band’s name “Alchemic” after bassist Strube (a Chemist) suggested the name because the band had been naming all of their early songs after elements in order to keep track of them.  In late 2018 the band parted ways with original drummer Seth Persinger and added drummer Greg Kanuckel whom Mayhew and Petty met at their place of work. A motley crue of nerds, all of the members of Alchemic have degrees and/or work careers in the science/engineering fields; Strube(Chemist), Lowry(Network Engineer), and Kanuckel/Mayhew/Petty(all 3 Mechanical Engineers).

Alchemic uses a harder approach to traditional alternative rock with semi-standard song structures, creative tones, and subtle dissonance to create a medium of sound for one to lose oneself in.  The band’s influences include: Tool, Incubus, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, TesseracT, Dorje, Sevendust, Slipknot, Nirvana, Lamb Of God, Pelican, Red Sparowes, God Is An Astronaut, Rage Against The Machine, David Bowie, Faith No More, Toska, Intervals, Scale The Summit, Plini, Chris Scheirmann, and Metallica.

Alchemic commonly performs at venues in the Lawrence, Topeka, and Kansas City areas.  The band is also known to be active on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube.
