Bio
A.K. McLeod is a blues/rock guitarist/singer/songwriter working out of Hamilton, Ontario. He comes from the Six Nations Reserve and the Moose Cree First Nation in Moose Factory, Ontario. His style is a mixture of 1970’s British blues rock, fiery Texas blues, and his own aggressive hard rock touch. His influences include Joe Bonamassa, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Johnson, Robben Ford, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Cry of Love, The Cult, Free, and Bad Company. He has shared the stage with a number of well known artists including Helix, Honeymoon Suite, The Trews, Jack De Keyzer, Harpdog Brown, Inez Jasper, Derek Miller, Digging Roots, Susan Aglukark, David Wilcox, Crystal Shawanda, Murray Porter, and Mike Smith, aka Bubbles of The Trailer Park Boys.
He is a 2 time award winner (First Runner Up ’08 and Grand Prize ’09, Aboriginal Canada “We Got Talent” Competition). He is noted for his high energy performances, gritty vocals, catchy and driving guitar riffs in his original songs, fiery and skillful leads, and his modern interpretation of old blues classics. His first full length album “Spiritual Fire” was featured on “Blues Blast on The Hawk”(101.5 FM, Mohawk College radio) as album of the week, and is in regular rotation on their playlist. "Spiritual Fire" has also been nominated for a Hamilton Music Award in 2016. His second full length album, "You Better Mean It" was released in October 2016 under The Darren Ross Agency label and is currently available for purchase and streaming online. He is currently in pre production for a third release.
