New Music | The Void – AEli
Pronounced AY-E-LIE, Los Angeles based artist AEli showcases his new track ‘Have You Ever’ ahead of his second project, ‘The Void’. AEli has spent most of his life creating music. At the tender age of two years old, he was writing and performing and developing his passion.
With artists such as Andre 3000, Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopez, Kanye West and The Police listed as his inspirations, the diversity of sound reflects his unconventional approach to creating music.
The sounds on “Have You Ever” are striking, with AEli’s mellow vocals providing a serenity to the track. The Void, which will be released today is as AEli tells us, a “story of my life from the perspective of the path I didn’t take when I reached the cross road.” The Void is his alternate reality that will be explored in ‘four episodes’, where they are all intertwined as part of one story.
It’s clear that AEli has an eclectic approach to delivering his art- and after listening to his material, you’ll immediately begin to hear his signature. Listen to ‘Have You Ever’ below: - Jesse (@MarvinsCorridor)
AEli (Pronounced AY-E-LIE) is a talented young producer, singer/songwriter and rapper hailing from Los Angeles, California. Entirely a self-made artist, AEli began writing and producing his own music from the confines of his home set-up, developing a homegrown signature ”pulphead” sound like no other. With his musicality and storytelling ability, AEli creates an emotional connection through his music, taking inspiration from his own life experiences.
In 2012 AEli released his 1st project entitled Reminiscing With Wine, receiving over 17,000 views and 1,619 downloads on datpiff.com. Since then AEli has been working on a very personal and self-inspired concept album called The Void, which is due to be released December 1st 2014. With his cool, calm vibes and vivid imagination, AEli will continue to push the boundaries of music.
The Void is a very personal and self-inspired concept album, set for release December the 1st 2014. The Void came from a place of introspection; it’s brutally honest, with numerous ways to interpret the message. In his own words it’s “The story of my life in perspective of the path I didn’t take when I reached the cross road.” There were many reasons AEli chose the path he did, main one being he realized he would end up dead so he made the decision to follow his passion and pursue music. The Void is his alternate reality that’s explored in the four “episodes” where no song stands alone, as they are all part of one consecutive story. - Harley Quinn (HarleyQuinn_NJ)
Ok from Camden we fly at top speed to LA to check out Elijah ‘AEli’ Sortino who is independent in every sense of the word when it comes to the creative process of music being a; singer, songwriter, producer and engineer all in one. The effect of this multi-talented individual is the ability to create some off the hook numbers that in many respects seem a little ahead of their time. His first mix-tape Reminiscing With Wine was released in 2012 and it really set the foundation for this artist with tracks like Thinking Too Much.
There’s a definite mix of the type of beats that border on that classic soulful hip-hop that Otha Soul drop while encompassing slightly retro soul vibes and ambient flushes-I love it. It’s like sampling a glass of red wine while chilling in your own orchard on a late evening. Even On E as his latest vibe is a laid back surreal sounding exploration where he tries to find the meaning of life through some rather potent drugs it’s crazily good.
There is another individual who posseses many of the same talents in different discipline. I am talking about Drake but I really feel that apart from the fact of being talented in similar disciplines, Elijah has his own clear definitive lane-I am willing to step out and say that his sound and delivery is infinitely and exquisitely more experimental than Drake.
Forth coming material will be his audio film the nineteen track, The Void and with comparisons to Andre 3000 already abound this LA resident is a name for those that want to push their musical ear to a fresh frontier-it might not be for everyone but hey that’s not a problem. - Semper Azeez-Harris

Taking musical inspiration from his own life experiences and key influences from the likes of Andre 3000, Lisa Left Eye Lopez, Thome Yorke, Kanye West, Phil Collins and Sting/The Police just to name a few, his music defines the unconventional creative process that he has mastered by embracing different cultures around the world.

Need a cool shift of pace in your hip hop listening? AEli‘s got you covered. This highly Andre 3000-inspired style is a bit of fresh air from all the bottom starters.
Grab a seat and a bottle of wine and get to thinking. That’s what AEli did. Maybe he starting thinking too much. Or maybe is was just enough to make a dope record. - J. Scott
An alt-pop buzzmaker hailing from Altadena, California, singer-songwriter and producer AEli makes his grand entrance into The DJBooth with a freshly-selected single off his latest free album. On this left-of-center jam, the Pulphead CEO’s own minimal electronic grooves set the stage for verses made up of probing questions: “Have You Ever wondered how it feels? Have you ever felt like nothing’s real? Have you ever felt like this before? Have you ever had a loss for words?” I’ll let y’all puzzle those over on your own. In the meantime, my question for you is, are you craving more from AEli? If the answer’s yes, you can click here to download free album The Void, available online as of Monday. - richard
Another dope joint from the LA native, AEli. The Void drops June 30th. - Kan Diggs
AEli, the talented Los Angeles artist, is back with a new single off his upcoming mixtape The Void. He established a solid following with his previous projects Love, Soul, and Mirrors EP and Reminiscing with Wine mixtape, and from the sound of this single, is back with his best work yet. “Even On E” features a laid back, almost druggy beat as Eli sings, “A wise man once told me, the sky is the limit / So I traveled into space, took a spaceship to see what’s up in it / But even on E, I couldn’t find the light.” Stream the track below and stay tuned for The Void which drops August 25. - Vivid Lagoon

Pulphead artist is an artist that you can't
put a label on. You are unable to label the genre, but you can identify
the emotion the artist is portraying. Refusing to be defined by a genre and becoming increasingly frustrated at the question, ‘What kinda music do you make?’ AEli
coined the term ‘Pulphead’, described as a mixture of rnb, hip hop,
soul, jazz, alternative rock, and techno with a mesmerizing feel to
it.A Pulphead artist is an artist that you can't put a label on, hence the
character with a bag over his head. You are unable to label the genre,

AEli is a talented young producer, singer/songwriter and rapper
hailing from California. Entirely a self-made artist, AEli began his musical
journey in 1995 at the tender age of 2 by playing the Star Wars theme song, which is
uncanny due to his previous profession of choice, to become an astronaut. Real name
Elijah Sortino had a promising yet unwanted career in boxing that eventually stopped
whilst training for the 2012 Olympic games to pursue his music career.
AEli started writing and producing his own music from the confines of his home set-up,
developing a home-grown signature ''pulphead'' sound like no other. Pulphead is his
brand: his genre, his alter ego and character. Regarding pulphead, you are unable to
identify the person/genre but you can identify it with the emotion and message the
person is portraying, which is arguably the most important thing AEli is conveying as he
understands that music can be felt in the same way it can be heard. AEli coined it out of
self-preservation. He realised if anyone asked what kind of artist he is, he wouldn't know
what to say. His ethos is "Don't box yourself in, Music is an art and you should treat it as
such by experimenting and pushing boundaries." He doesn't want to be referred to as a
rapper or just a singer or producer. His music is personified.
‘’Can’t Let Go’’ Ft. Al-D was the first song AEli ever recorded and produced himself that
generated a lot of local buzz and set the premise for his first project entitled Reminiscing
With Wine in 2012. Receiving over 17,000 views and 1,619 downloads on datpiff.com,
Reminiscing With Wine was the birth of AEli’s character ‘’pulphead’’ and the main
concept of the songs that are best described by the front artwork cover and also,
pulphead’s emotional roller-coaster. The mix-tape sonically consists of happy, nervous,
sad and intoxicated/drunk thoughts that starts from the protagonist being rejected by
his love interest. Love Soul Mirrors was his second project but in retrospect to his prior
mix-tape, it had a more intimate idea behind it as AEli expresses his own life in a more
soulful and reflecting way as he analyses his job, past relationships and scratches the
surface on his own personal views. Even though it was a short EP by AEli, it showed clear
direction of what was next to come by eventually being the bridge between Reminiscing
With Wine and his approaching project The Void.

that is additionally altered by embracing different cultures around the world. AEli's
potential is limitless, he can do it all and his music appeal’s too literally any demographic.
With his cool, calm vibes and vivid imagination, AEli will continue to push the restrictions
of music and become a household name in the coming future.
